For techno, maybe Estrella. DTE900 is also good for techno and EDM, but it is more specific and not for everyone. But Glacier with Final E tips crushes everything for e-music! You could also look at Titan, but I havenā€™t listened to it. Maybe @domq422 can help you here.

Whichever IEM you choose wonā€™t have the same amount of sub/midbass, so pick something thatā€™s good, technical, and beautiful, and let the music play.

I find my Kinda Lava to be perfect for this, but i got the bass boosted version.

IĀ“d still suggest EJ07m +eqĀ“d bass shelf if needed.
EJ07m is still endgame material for many.

Not too sharp in the highs and I find the drivers to be superior to Estrella but technically Estrella edges out EJ07m probably.

Maybe EJ07 OG is also worth a look if you want to crank it up

Those two are way better than their price tags would indicate.

I am also a 3.5mm fan, but my desktop setup at home is single ended. I like both the xDuoo MT-602, and the Topping DX1 I have there. I had a fair bit of 2.5mm back in 2021, and have moving to 3.5, and my only 4.4mm is the Fiio KA17.

I firmly feel like the Estrella is a touch too bright to be fully immersive for EDM / I think I mentioned somewhere that I like to crank up the volume quite a bit when the bass starts dropping and while I love the treble on the Estrella, itā€™s super refined and probably the best Iā€™ve heard under $500-$1000, I still think itā€™s a little too forward to be cranked up to EDM levels of volume. The bass is quite amazing on the Estrella though.

And Iā€™m sure everyone knows by now that the Titans have my End game bass so, yeah, the Titans for EDM, Rap, Hip Hop etc. is the best set I have and the best set Iā€™ll likely have for a long while. The sub bass on the Titans is justā€¦ incredible. Not to mention the rest of the FR is so incredibly well done. By far the most immersive IEM I have currently.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the feedback, really trying to understand my preferences before taking a big plunge higher up.

Can be your like me, many EDM genres have very bright elements. Maybe due to it being digital and not acoustic, can listen to way brighter sets on acoustic music.

I tend to like sets not being to bright for electronica, though I didnā€™t have that much problems with Estrella and found it really fun.

Then you have excellent mastered edm albums that work well on brighter sets.

Titan is ready for pickup at the mail office, busy weekend but I should be able to squeeze it in.

Agreed. I think it comes down to production overall. When an artist masters their work for the masses they have to take into account what most people will be listening on. For the most part, Rap is listened on consumer headphones and car speakers so having poor production in the treble and upper mids is very very common. Vocals, artificial hi hats and cymbals always come across harsh to me when listening on my IEMs. I think consumer products have a stronger emphasis on bass so the harsh production in the upper mids and treble arenā€™t really talked about. I donā€™t think most of the population even care about that stuff, I think 90% of people only really care about how much bass music has in todayā€™s society. EDM is a little different, I know there are tons are artists who really care about their production but those artists also probably mix and master with the thought of what listening device is being used. A great example is Deadmau5 - his production and mastering is really
Top notch most of the time. He has some of the coolest equipment money can buy in his studioā€¦ but, listen to a song like Cthulhu Sleeps on the Estrellaā€¦ the artificial cymbals and hi hats are piercing. Itā€™s not even the Estrellaā€™s fault, honestly, itā€™s just that type of style in the mastering process doesnā€™t mesh well with treble forward tuning.

But then you can look at artists like Men I Trust, whose production is overall very warm and soupy so a forward treble tune is incredibly balanced and immersive.

So all this to say that I agree with you. Electronic elements, in my opinion at least, have a harsh playback for the most part so itā€™s best to have a pair of earphones or IEMs that have a slightly laid back treble and upper mids approach in order to fully enjoy music like that. Those are just my two cents.

Looking forward to your Titan reviewā€¦ although I donā€™t think youā€™ll be the biggest fan if I know your preferences at all. Thatā€™s a very specialty type set. I love them to pieces, but I know theyā€™re not for everyone.

Itā€™s only on loan for pleasure and no review, love it this way. Lately had to much to review.

Current favorite set when I want bass :sunglasses: is the Alpha Omega. Tuned not so far off from Titan.

I did not realize they were so close. That graph sure does look tasty!

Yeah but $2700 or so for the Omega smh

Legit has a higher value than my car.

The Ra seems much more in line with reasonable pricing.

At this point, IEM prices donā€™t shock me unless theyā€™re more than the big boy staples like the STORM and the TI bird. Anything less than that and Iā€™m likeā€¦ yeah.

These companies can charge whatever theyā€™d like and it falls in line with the exclusivity of having a high price. Only select few can afford an IEM so expensive and I think those select few are okay with paying that price because of the fact that theyā€™re part of the select few.

Admit I paid around half for Omega, ordered this early for review. And price since been increased, yeah itā€™s really high price.

Have RA also, but only tried it for a few minutes. It is darker and have less clarity and polish, but has some of the DNA of Omega.

While my best sets are quite expensive, I can fully enjoy music from a single DD like Miroak-II.

Anyway a photo of RA

Thatā€™s why an IEM for EDM needs to have a good amount of bass and not overly boosted treble so you donā€™t have to raise the volume to ā€œfeelā€ the bass and your ears donā€™t bleed from treble spikes.

Let me know when you find out because Iā€™m also looking for an iem for EDM/ Techno. Hi-Fri Aphex model is great V shape IEM but Iā€™m thinking of picking up a planar maybe soon. Davinci also looks tasty because several reviewers commented that it had too much bass.

Thatā€™s right, agreed

Absolutely agree with that sentiment, itā€™s made lose sense of actual pricing lol and I love both. Currently using Explorer as I gave away S08 then I lost my Mext, im glad I have Explorer as a backup until I buy TSMR Shock

Or Mest Mk2 lol

Iā€™m full in on 3.5mm since its so universal, I prefer 4.4mm for the strong connection but im too lazy to adopt it myself

Thanks Leonarfd, for the comparison, I saw my graph on the UUU setting on the Omega with your Titan comparison and thought why not just leave all the switches down? But I went and looked and indeed there is about a 2db difference and its mostly in the Midbass.

Sure enough a/b listening to the two setting there is a definitive audible difference and what I was wishing for with a bit more impact has come to fruition.

Wow do I love this IEM. Kicks ass over the GM for me.

Man the Titan is very impressive for the price compared to the omega.

To me the two IEMs are not competing the Omega is in its own league
