Just got the Verite closed limited edition African blackwoods. I made a little unboxing video, then demoed them with all three pads I have for them. They sound great, but I realized that contrary to popular option I prefer the Verite open. So, I used my polishing cloth and put them back in the seahorse case along with everything else they came with.
This is a brand new mint set, so if anyone is interested in skipping the extremely long wait which for me was over two months then Iâll sell them! And of course Iâll include the extra pair of pads that I ordered separately!
Actually please excuse thisâŠI always do this. I get a new headphone and hate it at first (except for the Arya that I loved immediately)
I took it back out and tried againâŠI get it now.
Itâs vastly different from the rest of my collection so the warmth and closed nature really took some brain burn in. Now Iâm pretty amazed.
Iâm also shocked that I like the Auteur pads because I absolutely never listened to anything that wasnât BE2 or verite pads on the open. These are just really unique that I couldnât quite understand them at first.
Hmmm that extra $2800 back in my wallet was seeming pretty tempting thoughâŠ
Anybody got a comparison of these with Aeon noire? DMS likes the $800 cans more than the VC
I personally found the sound to be a bit off somehow with the Verite open with universe pads and usually used BE2 hybrid.
The crazy thing with really liking the Auteur pads on the closed is that the soundstage and presentation seems about the same as the VO with BE2 which is crazy since these are closed and working with resonances.
Itâs really impressive how the same looking ZMF style wooden cup design with all their same gear chassis speaking has been engineered in this case to sound like a headphone built from the ground up with a closed back resonance space in mind. I legitimately wonder what it looks like behind the driver, etc. Maybe itâs just a bit of huge luck on their part with the original choice of design for the Eikon and the Atticus working so extremely well for upgrades.
I wouldnât be surprised if we havenât seen the last of new releases from ZMF that more or less âlook the sameâ
I currently have the Auteur pads, and BE2 in lambskin and Eikon b stock I got for cheap in suede. Both of the latter have FR harshness issues, but timbre is probably the best on the suedes.
This makes me interested in Auteur hybrid pads. Wondering if anybody has any experience with hybrid pads on the Verite closed?
Auteur hybrids are my favorite on the VC. When I got them I changed a lot between pads and tried Auteur lambskin, BE2 Lambskin, Universe Lambskin and Universe Hybrid. Every time I changed to something else than the Auteur hybrids a certain magic was missing for me. Universe hybrid are second for my taste but the staging is so much nicer with the Auteur pads. Settled them now and donât feel the urge to swap anymore.
Does anyone have any experience running the VC with the WA7 Fireflies? Iâm heavily considering picking those two up to compliment my Clear Mg. Iâd be running the WA7 into a Bifrost 2.
Hey guys, i have pulled the trigger on a beautiful stabilized maple from my local forum.
Question, have you guys tried to drive the VC with a Burson Soloist 3XP?
I have a Schiit Gungnir and a Soloist and i keep hearing i need a tube amp to really make the VC shine, i was wondering how is the synergy with my current chain though, i really love the Soloist and i really donât feel like i need any other amps right now.
What is happening in the ZMF second hand market right now. I just grabbed a Verite Closed Epoxy set for around what it would cost me in EU to get an Aeolus new! Really really reasonable prices if anyone is drooling over ZMF cansâŠalso seen some of the new beauties for sale at discounts as well. I guess market saturation. All the better if you get you audio good second hand. Happy listening.
