I do really like the OE cable tbhā¦tried pure Silver, Gold/Silver plated copperā¦got a 4 core 6N single crystal copper cable on the wayā¦lets seeā¦a $200 set so no need cable mental
Thats great to hear.
I would normally live with a terrible cable until a new one arrives, but quality wasnt my main concern its the short lenght wasnt really going to do it for me although to be honest if the cable is really nice then maybe I should just check for an extention rather than another entire cableā¦ perhaps save a few bucks as well.
Havent had a quality wired IEM for years.
So pretty excited for the Timeless to arrive.
I just got them and am running them through a Vali 2+ with a 6sn7 tube and adapter and the soundstage/imaging is AMAZING! Iām so glad I bought these!
Imaging is perfect. Soundstage is super wide if you use foam tips. Open back headphones have even more soundstage but for an IEM it is as good as possible.
My impression after 5 hours of listening: my first impression pretty much holds still true - without EQ the timeless destroys the Blessing 2 imho. With EQ (both IEMs tuned to the same target) the picture looks a bit different. Overall I do like the Blessing 2 a bit more, when both are EQed. The boosted bass of the B2 has more impact than the Timeless. I would give a slight edge to the B2 across the frequencies in terms of timbre, but itās close. The stage is (again) a little bit better on the B2, even tough I think it improved on the Timeless after EQ. The fit on the B2 is also better for me. The only advantage that the timeless has, is that certain fast sound effects are tighter. But while with EQ I give the edge to the B2, it is still close. Last but not least: The EQ I applied to the Timeless is very mild, as there is not much to improve imho.
So if you ask me the B2 is a hard sell. It only outperforms the timeless by a small margin and only in an EQ scenario. Without EQ there is no competition as the timeless takes the cake at around 100$ less. If I had to give a recommendation to someone looking to buy their first IEM and a preference similiar to mine at >100$, Iād recommend the timeless or skip that price region completely and go for something like the Variations. The B2 is only viable if you dislike the timeless sound signature.
I know that we are talking big price difference here, but it seems that lately price on some cases is not really a way to tell performance, I am wondering if anyone has been able to compare the Timeless against Audeze LCD-i3 or LCD-i4? I know the Audeze requires EQ but just wondering how the Timeless holds against the Audeze ones.
I am wondering if I have a defective B2 Dusk. Granted, I donāt EQ. But the problems I heard were not going to be fixed by EQ. And the timeless felt like it was in a different league.
All kindsā¦ Orchestral, EDM, HipHop, Pop, Acoustic,ā¦
What problems did you have? I am happy to send you my EQ settings for Equalizer APO. For me the Blessing without EQ sounded just dull. No Treble, not enough Subbass (I have the non-dusk) and the elevated (imho) Midbass just makes everything dull and muddy to my ears. EQ solved all that for me.
EDIT: Oh, and by the wayā¦ I donāt know if that helps, but everytime I turn off the EQ on the Blessing 2, it sounds broken to me as well
I think B2 dusk BA just sound choppy and disjointed. And the DD clearly struggled even compared to the tea. The dusk tonality was smoother and more balanced, but it seemed technically challenged. I was really surprised given how much I loved them for months.
But this is B2 vs B2 Dusk. Could make a difference.
Basically all IEM cables are 120-130cm, itās a standard. Very difficult to get a cable in any other length unless you get one custom made. Itās not like overears where thereās a much broader range of cable length. If you think youāll ever want to get another IEM consider an extension, as youād be able to use that for anything else.
An extension for your desk also means easy disconnection and youād be left with a reasonable length cable for portable use. This really isnāt an IEM you want to frequently swap cables on, MMCX is inherently fragile as an interface and with the Timeless itās even more difficult than usual to get them off, they are extremely stiffly attached and because of the shell itās hard to get a MMCX Assist tool in there. Plus, some people have reported issues with their shells coming apart from removing the cables- so probably best idea to pick a cable and leave it attached permanently than be swapping all the time.
Itās a particularly good stock cable, incidentally, it feels good, looks good, isnāt microphonic, wraps well, doesnāt tangle, itās probably the best stock cable Iāve ever got with an IEM.
Timeless sounds much more detailed. Buds Pro more congested.
Timeless sounds like it has more subbass emphasis but it keeps doesnāt sound remotely boomy. Buds Pro is not bad on this but the bass leaks more into the mids. Timeless keeps it separated better.
Buds Pro sound more forward in the mids, Timleless sounds a bit more recessed.
Timeless to me sounds like it has more treble, although Buds Pro seems to in the graphs. (Edit: looking again, I guess it depends where you align them). Timeless seems to have this treble presence without it being remotely offensive, I have some other stuff (anything from KZ, TFZ No 3) where the treble is sharp or piercing. Timeless the treble is very present, but not too much. Iād have the same feeling about the Ananda, it sounds bright to me but the brightness is not remotely piercing or harsh.
Timeless sounds more natural, more right.
Overall, to me Timeless is a lot better, itās not close. The Buds Pro sound great for TWS though, I think they are at least competitive with the likes of the Moondrop Starfield/Aria level. The Timeless is a distinct step up though, itās closer to the likes of the Blessing 2 Dusk.
That would be interesting, if there really were a difference in B2 vs B2 Dusk. I read that some people are complaining about incoherencyā¦ maybe that is what you experiencing?
My B2 may as well has incoherency issues, but in that case I simply donāt hear it.
I have 0 experience with mmcx as well so I wouldnt know, again havent had wired iems for years except bin tier 19usd gas station pioneer iems and I really hate them but needed something in a pinch. and none of my previous wired iems had detachable wires at all. so that is very helpful info for me. much appreciated.
I did land on having a custom cable with 4.4 male to female terminations made, finding anything ready made 4.4 extention is just about impossible as they were either hundreds of dollars or didnt ship to me. either way the custom cable should be way nicer than those were anyway and didnt cost a fortune so hope that pans out.
Extention cable is def the way to go as you say it gives me option of having multiple iems plug in and keep the portability of a short cable.
Massive bonus then as I didnt know mmcx were a bit unreasonable to deal with and the stock cable is super nice Ill just leave it in. cheers
Yes 4 and i have expand them but still the same problem is a QC problem i got it loose from the beginning and now it getting looser . There is no other solution i need to find a new connector . thnx god itās not a resin shell so there is hope
