Would love to see it, dude. Always interested in others’ opinions.
Doesn’t matter how many IEMs you’ve got on the list. Your effort and dedication matters. I’m definitely open to seeing the list. It would be an interesting read.
Has anyone done a comparison between the Explorer and the Ziigaat Cinno? Seems like they have a similar approach to tuning.
Thanks, will upload
i agree with this, if you know the reviewer has same music preferences like you. then tier list can be very helpful. as countries like India don’t have many options to demo before buying. we have blind buy everything
I have a similar amount of IEMs. It would be nice to see your personal ranking list. I am simply curious to see how you have ranked various IEMs.
Will Upload just a few finishing touches.
As a new reviewer, it’s a bit nervous.
It’s alright. None of us are professionals here.
Both are that low pinna tuning, and I really like both, but Cinno can be a bit too neutral on the bass for my tastes at times.
Nice photo of your Explorers! The multi-colored sparkles on the faceplate reminds me of watches with aventurine glass dials.
Thank you. I realised after posting that the colour is not accurate. 2 hours into listening to Explorer and I did not have too many things to complain about. That’s a good sign
How is the quality and the texture of the bass?
Explorer excels in bass quality and texture, offering deep and well-extended sub-bass that provides a solid foundation without overwhelming the overall sound. The mid-bass is tight and punchy, delivering an articulate and dynamic response that enhances rhythmic elements while maintaining clarity and separation from the midrange. The bass texture is rich and detailed. This level of detail enables the appreciation of the complexity of bass instruments and electronic bass lines, giving a sense of dimension and presence. Overall, the bass quality and texture in the Explorer are well-executed, providing a satisfying low-end that complements the rest of the sound signature, making it appealing to both bass enthusiasts and those who prefer a balanced sound.
Nice. Thanks!
Aful Explorer short impression:
The Aful Explorer, priced at $119, offers excellent value with its comfortable fit and dynamic sound. It features good bass extension and punch, a natural midrange, and smooth treble without harshness. However, it has slight bass bleed affecting midrange clarity and a narrow soundstage. The upper treble lacks some air and micro-detail retrieval, and the budget cable feels plasticky. Overall, it delivers a balanced, enjoyable listening experience with authentic tone and timbre.
mostly agree with your first impressions. the one thing I do not like is the lack of treble extension that’s it. I wish they priced it below 100 dollars IMO, it would have been more competitive then. at 120 it is very close to nova or cklvx / pula
I do think they are Targeting People like me in this IEM, when I got to know my friend bought one - I texted him instantly to send this to me.
So much saturation in the market, the graph looks like a breath of fresh air to be
Even though I haven’t heard the Explorer, all of the squigs show that it is a bit too dark in the upper midrange and treble for my personal tastes even though this tuning might float the boats of Dunu SA6 fans. The CKLVX CK-D41 or the PA02 are not much more expensive when they are on sale, and these IEMs have a fuller upper midrange. So yes, I think that the Explorer might be somewhat overpriced. I do have the CK-D41 which, when using parametric EQ, performs pretty close to my Performer 5.
Perhaps I am missing the main point of the Explorer which is to showcase the strong, resolving and textured bass performance which is generated by by the use of a DD which is coupled to a resonator cavity. Do you all Explorer owners think that I might be right in this regard? If yes, then it seems to me that perhaps Aful’s next logical stepping stone will be a Performer 4 which uses a similar DD and resonator combination for the bass, and three other drivers for the rest of the frequency response. And if yes, then I suppose that I will eventually purchase the Explorer in order to hear the bass performance for myself.
Similarly, perhaps the MagicOne can also be thought of as a test product which showcases what Aful was able to do with a single BA in conjunction with a resonator cavity and with their RLC crossover/tuning technology. I am very impressed with the overall result. The MagicOne turned out to easily be my favorite chill pill IEM to listen to when I am tired due to the relaxing BA bass timbre and the somewhat ethereal sound quality which the MagicOne imparts to all music.
I am mightly impressed with the Explorer. Yes it sounds a bit dark, but not bland or boring at all. In fact I find it smooth and the bass is really good for my taste.
