Anime discussion thread

Skip all the filler, it is enjoyable if you like shonen like me (and the music is great).

I guess you can say that. The first 2 arcs are just retellings of the 2 movies (battle of gods and resurrection of), then there is a U6 VS U7 arc that is better than the 2 first arcs but still meh (had a good fanservice moment though for OG fans). But the 2 last arcs are actually good IMO. But if you havent seen more than up to the cell saga, you should watch the rest of Z (via Kai, which removes all filler, a lot better IMO) then the 2 movies then skip to the “future trunks arc” and the “tournament of power” in Super.

I find it similar to death note in a way but still different. Worthy of a watch though.

WTF is wrong with me the top of my old but good list in Clannad. First season is ehh, but the second season just really destroyed me, I literally couldn’t get anything done until I finished it. Stuff will freakin’ mess you up. Not a shonen at all, but is honestly one of my favorite anime.

basically most anime that was big back in 2006-2008 was pretty great. generally regarded as one of the golden ages of anime

-Death Note

  • The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
  • Hellsing Ultimate
  • Baccano!
  • Mushishi
  • Lucky Star
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
  • Clannad
  • Ef - A Tale of Memories
  • Darker than Black
  • 5 Centimeters per Second
  • Aria the Origination
  • Bamboo Blade
  • Code Geass
  • Spice & Wolf
  • Toradora!
are all great in their own respects but if you wanna just go past 2010 2011 was an awesome year as well

-Usagi Drop

  • Anohana
  • Fate/Zero
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica
  • Steins;Gate
  • Penguindrum
  • Toriko
  • The World God Only Knows
  • Nichijou
  • Kimi no Todoke
  • Hunter x Hunter
and if you want more recent I can make a list of whats worth patching of the past like 10 years

I’m a degenerate who purposely avoid watching certain anime. Specifically I avoid watching anime that I think I’m gonna really like, but they are relatively short and have near zero(or literally zero) chance of coming back for another season. Some examples: Your Lie in April, Toradora, A Lull in the Sea, Erased, Steins;Gate, Dies Irae, Eden of the East, The Future Diary, Guilty Crown, and Kino’s Journey. That’s an incomplete list too. I also haven’t watched the second half of Gosick. Gosick was one of the shows I purposely picked because it look like something that I wouldn’t really like. I was wrong got half way through and decided to save the last half for a later date because it was too good. That’s happened to me a few times. Spice and Wolf was another one that I thought I was probably not gonna like, but again was dead wrong.

I freakin’ hate myself I partially do this because I’m afraid I’ll run out of good anime to watch. The other reason which is the bigger reason is because I’m a freakin’ baby who cries all the time and gets super attached to the characters in books/anime. So I try to avoid watching things I might like that have little chance of continuing so I never have to see the end of a series I love. That list above, I don’t even know if some of those things are good! They might be though and so like the little baby that I am I’ve been avoiding watching them.

No one else does this right? I’m pretty sure I’m alone in my own little neurotic anime watching rituals. Anyone else have weird anime watching habits?

I’ve been accustomed to such dissapointment

Decent but carried pretty hard by hiroyuki sawano´s music.

You wanna watch something that is carried completely by the sound track? Assassins Pride. Trash pedophile anime that started out really solid and then fell flat on it’s face. That I understand it happens often, but what I can’t wrap my head around is why the soundtrack is so freakin’ god tier. It’s all by MONACA, and I love every track. You know somethings off when you buy the soundtrack to an anime, but have no desire to own or even watch the anime ever again.

WAIT WHATTTTTT, LIKE THE SAME GUY THAT DID NIER`s OST???

Well, then I will watch it.

Yeah I didn’t even realize it because I’m only semi familiar with Nier. Yeah that person is a musical god, that anime was only consistently good in the soundtrack department. The first couple and last couple episodes of the only season that will probs ever exist makes the anime look like it should be really good, but the center 8 episode are like watching a diamond turn back into normal individual carbon atoms. A waste. Hey, the soundtrack is great though!

ok, its on my list then.

Yeah, it’s worth watching for the good ost.

Anime Reccs by year I would highly reccomend looking up if they are a full adaptation as half of these anime I’ve watched so long ago I can’t even remember most of the story but just remember really liking them. the more stars the higher the recc. These will not include anime that have been airing already prior to these years or have had seasons prior to these years (ex. Major season 6 which I would still reccomend if your into shounen sports anime). if you must know my preferences , Im a big sucker for Shonen, isekais, and Slice of life anime. a lot of the 2010’s are really good slice of lifes and comedy anime especially earlier 2010s, the big tropes were slice of life, comedy, high school, harem anime.

Man, Steins Gate was legit tough for me to get into, took me starting it like 4 times before I got past the first 2 episodes and then bam!!! I now own the blu-ray collection LOL

Common story for stiens gate in particular even though the first episode is objectively a great episode after a rewatch. the first few episodes are absolute slogs. took me 2 tries with a year inbetween each episode. the second try happnned cause I was bored on a sunday afternoon

Yeah, I thought it was painfully slow until about episode 8 or so and then I was like holy shit, this is amazing. The build up was very much worth it

If you have Amazon Prime, this means you also have Amazon Video, and Psycho-Pass is free to watch there. In my list for now, will watch soon.
