Notes: at this point of going through my anime list year by year I start to realize how many harem anime I’ve watched and have come out. and honestly there were some pretty good anime that fall in the Harem category.also realizing how easy it is to entertain me as I seem to like a lot>

unsolicited thoughts from re-watching Toradora for the first time since air in like 2008:

Turns out anime you watched when you were 16 hits different when you’re late 20s
Back then it was “yeah obviously MC guy can’t say anything to girl, that’s dumb and will never work” and now it’s “don’t be a pussy, no one is waiting around to find out your take”

Still one of the better light novel based animes tho, and it still ends in a satisfying way. They’ve clearly had some character arc, that resolves after the season’s run. The ep25 characters are obviously not the same as the ep1 characters.
It isn’t just like the last ep was the same as all the others except there aren’t anymore after it.
One of the few shows of the time that ended with people taking responsibility for their shit, and progressing as characters. Pacing was weird at the end, and a couple characters got mediocre ends (fits them, as they were kinda mediocre characters imo). Not sure if its the show it’s self or just being quarantined for a fuckin’ year but it was a weird re-watch all together. It’s not like going back to Bebop or GitS for the bazilionth time, shows that stand up by not only modern sensibilities but maybe more mature mind sets. The source of conflict in those isn’t that the MC is 16 and can’t figure their feelings out without being yelled at. Toradora was clearly made for 16 year olds. It’s interesting to go back and see what that feeling was like when you were that age…and not miss that at all. Being an adult is fine by me, i dont miss any of that.
Still cute, and still enjoyable. All in, worth the revisit if you haven’t since it dropped, buckle up for touching base with who you were 13 years ago.

no such thing this is a discussion thread we can discuss anything anime here. also so Glad netflix is doing what I wanted them to do when they got in the anime industry and is starting to revive some old favorites like toradora can’t wait till season 2

Netflix investing in anime is quite nice to see, but I hate when they put things in Netflix jail by only airing new things in batches or when the entire season is done. Most anime fans (that I talk to at least) join in on the seasonal hype, so if you don’t sail the high seas, you are left behind with the Netflix offerings.

But yeah, I am glad they are licensing some of the old stuff since like almost everyone has Netflix nowadays. The more, the merrier!

Yeah! For real, it’s so sick to see one of your old fav series land on streaming (looking at you Eva). But the week over week aspect for new series is true, crunchyroll still has that on lock.

Speaking of, now that sony owns crunchy roll and funimation are they going to merge platforms?

Sony said they do plan to merge them eventually, but no date yet or anything I don’t think

2017 anime -I start to slow down the anime I watch here as I started post secondary school fall 2016 so I definitely missed some good stuff, also lots of sequel seasons this year which as a reminder I do not list.

I’m speculating a lot of poaper work needs to be done with each platforms exclusivity deals with all the anime they have on paper. and My assumption is they are working on a streaming service for themselves as sony pictures is massive and they themselves could own the streaming service monopoly in Japan

I see your 2017 watched list is missing Houseki No Kuni (Land of the Lustrous). I HIGHLY recommend it. It was one of the best, but one of the most slept-on shows that came out that year. Also, it has a GREAT soundtrack. Better than Made in Abyss in my opinion.

from what I remember I think I had issues getting over the 3d animation but I did end up watcching most of it. sadly I dont think I finished it. not because I though it was bad from what I remember the CG wasn;t awful and they made some good decisions making the CG good I think I just got really busy with school, and my social life. I drop a lot of shows from from 2017 on my ability to keep up really slows down from this point on.
