Areed. This type of filth has always existed but used to be something it’s fans were so ashamed of that they would keep it to themselves. Unfortunately tolerance of the absurd is consent. With the fall of decency, ethics & morals in mainstream society, normalization of the absurd takes their place. It’s not a coincidence.
I didn’t say pay wall. I simply said wall. You make a good point about parenting and I agree with that. If a kid is raised right and is properly engaged chances are he or she won’t want to see it anyway. As fucked up as my childhood was my parents at least taught me good core values and common sense. The world is the world now. You could have things squared away at home but what about the friend’s house etc. I’m saying at least try not to make it so easily accessible and not stick it right in their face, eh?
Unfortunately its far from being the only show even really good shows can have these kind of acts and themes (in different doses). Japanese anime sometimes has some messed up themes integrated into them, sometimes it just “fan service” but sometimes it way more messed up thing like grooming, pedophilia and incest.
Why that it? i dont have the answer, its a combination of multiple reasons among them the such as cultural differences between the Japanese culture and the west, along with many of the other reasons (personally i dont think its just a modern thing IMO, but that is a way bigger discussion ).
Anime is at the end of the end is fanatasy, but it much more overt with it’s themes than western story telling (the good and the bad ones) picking and choosing to your personal tolerance level is inevitable, in some cases you’ll just move on sometimes you will outright stop watching a show.

Right so if no paywall, and its legal to access in the first place, then you are arguing for it to be de-annoned meaning personal info check or something to verify you are of legal age etc. De-annoning the internet can have serious reprocutions for speech online.
I have never seen this ish yall have been bringing up, but i have watched a few episodes of gushing over magical girls and it was not my thing so i dropped it. I also watched redo of healer and liked it and both have some pretty explicit material in it. I can go on, but the bottom line is you should not restrict someones access who pays for the internet by attempting to verify their age, i dont mean the stupid “are you 18… yes no” shit either.
As an anime fan I would love nothing more than the left with woke bullshit, and the right with their anime is satanic bs to permanently leave anime alone… western media sucks ass for a reason so dont ruin this too.

I’ve tried to get into anime 2 or 3 times in the past 5 years. I watch Z Reviews every day when he has a new one. That is what perked my interest in anime. Everything I tried each time, I just couldn’t get past almost everything I heard being very annoying to me with the squeaky child voices & the scenes so jumbled up that they made no sense. They just jump from one thing to another thing & it just seems random & pointless. However none of that had ever delved into the pedo/grooming scenario. Yes I quit watching it as soon as that popped up.
I’m 53. I was trying to discover what the hype is about with anime & thinking I could join in. Nope. I consider myself to be very liberal, but things like pedo/grooming is going completely out of bounds for me. Granted this is posted as 18+, but that doesn’t make it ok. Could I find this kind of filth in 13+ or 7+? I’m almost afraid to look.
Filth isnt the word i would use. I’d suggest looking at anime as you would stand up, some stand up comedians hold nothing back talking on very touchy topics with fuckin sledgehammer. with anime its fantasy so the writers (even the “slice of life”) so the hold a lot less back though it also touch on some subject with a lot more realism then you would in traditional media (also its not subtext like western media, which can very damaging - japanese media tend to be more upfront).
Its both adjusting your view on the medium itself and finding things that would suit you will be harder since you are on the older side and your taste is pretty much set, try "The Dangers in my heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu), its a bit on the “cutesy” romance anime but its fairly wholesome
Funny thing is i would actually focus on more mature anime since they tend to tackle much heavier and more complex subjects, for example of the best anime movies “Ghost in the shell” (1995) , is rated for MA, because of violence and some nudity - how ever it tackle some incredibly complex subjects in a very thought provoking way. A modern example would be Mushoku Tensei, its a show with a lot of fan service and some disturbing tones but it also tackles those things and over themes (like trauma) in a very intesrting way (its fantasy so i wouldnt jump onto that)

Agreed, very whole personally i fell off the 2nd season (too much focus on Anya) but its a good show and the soundtrack in nice and upbeat
One more recommendation out of left field @AntiWoke , try Terminator 0, i know its sci fi and not what you asked but it might give you a bit of understanding on anime in general. The show good (not great but solid), but it demonstrates how anime take a known IP like the Terminator franchise and do their own spin on it both in story line and characters - its probably the best thing in this IP since Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 Judgment day
I love scifi. I own many dozens of scifi movies out of hundreds of movies. I just have to find anime scifi that isn’t annoying sound wise & that is visually flowing in a manner that I can comprehend as being a meaningful story with meaningful characters & dialog. If every scene is just action upon action & yelling & squealing voices then I’m not interested. It becomes annoying.

Ok I got a Netflix subscription. Crazy it’s about double the price of Amazon Unlimited Video. I’m watching Terminator Zero. It’s ok so far.
On another note I watched that lesbian thing the rest of the way through the 1st episode. It seems very weird. An adult lesbian with enormous tits grooms a 16 year old with sexual pleasure that turns her into a sword that she fights other lesbians with who have their own weapons they get from sexually aroused girls transforming into the weapon.
Ya dont look for logic in that stuff, in general there are some wierd and funny concepts. there is an anime where the main character’s superpower is ordering from amazon ( which is actually pretty decent) and there some animes where the main charter is an inanimate object (a vending machine), …
So that stuff dont make any sense 
As far as the age thing, its a japan thing… In japan the current age of consent is 16 (if im not mistaken it was changed in 2023, after many years which it was 13), to you it seems disturbing but its culture thing (not saying its right just keep that in mind) which is why a lot of anime have teenager female characters
Terminator Zero was a bit meh. I’m trying out Arcane League of Legends now. It’s definitely got some nice looking animation style.
