So I decided to pick up a pair, because I really liked the portable aspect and the sound was pretty good when I tried them, so I figured it would be nice to have, canā€™t wait for it to get here :+1:

I started using a bit eq the last 2 weeks and a tube dsp for my DT 1990s
still wait since over a month for my elite velour pads - they sit in frankfurt at customs since 3 weeks or so
if this wonĀ“t work I can try the foam for the AKG 240
still plans run on an OTL build with the help of my best buddy
itĀ“s the last chance to tame down the 1990s peak
if all that wonĀ“t help ā€¦ will sell it finally and call it a day
but love the build, comfort and design of the 1990s so much

so I can understand everyone using EQ to achieve his preferences/correct a good hf you like
but my other hf are quite flat - so no eq is needed
with the ifi xDSD I use some xBass Boost with the Elegia with some songs - thatĀ“s all modification I need

the LCD-1 is out of my interest for beeing not as wide sounding
a foldable closed back 1c with a bit of stage for under 400 could keep my Elegia at home and get usage at the office - if there werenĀ“t the new AEON C-2sā€¦ really have to here it

So these came in, and I do have to say they are pretty killer for the price point. Itā€™s an easy rec if you know you enjoy that kinda sound. Very similar to the pair I listened to before and really I donā€™t have any real complains with them for the price. I did try them on a tube, and it was interesting in a good way (although I wouldnā€™t recommend it for most tube amps)

Vā€™s the Elexā€¦

Kind of shocked how good the Elex sounds. Iā€™m always weary of sound demos, but comparatively speaking I would spend the extra money for the Elex.

The elex is pretty great imo, and something I think people looking in the above 500 buck range should take into account

Only knowing the Clear and my Elegia the Elex has to be quite good and I would have taken it over my DT1990 and 660s if it would be delivered to germany

A good way to think of the elex is almost like a W shaped sound. It measures kinda similar to the clear, but it presents music in a more fun way imo. Itā€™s like a fun focal headphone like the more fun tuning on the stellia (which I am not a fan of lol). It still has very good detail and all the other aspects, but might be more enjoyable for those who want a little more fun

I donā€™t have anywhere near [NOT EVEN CLOSE] to Monā€™s experience with the different headphones. But I will say that it has sort of changed the way I look at value in headphones. I had to spend $500 more to be impressed by other headphones after using the Elex as my daily driver. Everything I tried just seemed flat (as in uninteresting, not tonal response) after the Elex.

I am so spoiled by the elex that I even tried to find closed backs that had good value and couldnā€™t find anything sub-$1000 that did it for me except the Elegia.

Just curious, what is your daily right now? Is it the LCD X?

Yep! But I keep the Elex out of the case and accessible still. Hereā€™s the current setup. I know the pegboard walls are weird- my home office was the previous owners workshop. You take what you can get in the SF Bay area.

I made the pegboard work for me by creating a headphone hanger where I can store the Elex behind my monitor.

Sweet setup. Iā€™ve always been curious of the Elex.

I could give 0 Fā€™s on the LCD-1, but I would have totally missed this sound comparison otherwise. Not that the Elex needs any more hype.

@Andrew_Davis you could always do this:

So for you guys who have gotten them in, anyone can do a comparison between these to the Sendy Aivas? Since the Sendys seem to be around the space price range on Drop.

Sure. I think the LCD 1 is smoother with a better bass response, more mid-range detail, and is going to be a bit darker. The sendy is going to be aggressive, have more high end detail, a more recessed mid-range, and punchy but not as good of bass as the LCD 1. They are both fairly easy to drive for a planar, but I think the build and comfort is nicer on the sendy. But the LCD 1 is more portable

Cool. How do they compare in terms of imaging & soundstage? So, for someone who already has a pair of HD6xx & Argons, which of these 2 would be a better complement?

I think the sendys would be more intimate imo. Both have good layering, but I prefer the soundstage of the lcd1 imo. The sendys win for imaging imo. Going for overall sound wise, I think it depends on what type of sound you prefer.

Iā€™ve got the m570 and lcd1 rn. I prefer the v shaped sound of the 570 more.

I kinda dig the pegboard thing, not gonna lie. Never would have thought of that before seeing this.
