Haha I just bought the Blackwood Aeolus Limiteds. I originally wanted to buy the LCD-x from Audeze directly and went with the LCDX-C off of Amazon once my refund came back. Iām not a fan. I think the open back would be better but Iām sure my judgement is colored from my garbage customer experience. I was probably going to skip the LCD1 anyway, but you reminded me that I donāt want to deal with them in the off-chance I ever went for the LCD4. Maybe Rosson one day, but Iām leaning towards the Verite if I ever went that route
Technically you will have $800 to spend on a headphone now. Iāll be watching to see which route you go with
Probably what you just did. I mentioned ZMF because I was looking at the blackwood aeolus limited earlier in the day, funnily enough. Mind if I ask what options you chose?
@Acidleak now you can have something to justify your unwarrented distaste for Audeze since they kinda just screwed a few people over
Iād hurry if I were you. They have less than 5 in that wood option available. I basically went with their standard options because I have the LCDX-C and an Empyrean and both use the same cables. I paid for the upgraded pads and sent an email to them to check if I made the correct choices since reviewers donāt seem to use their specific terminology. I will EQ if I have to, but prefer the unique sound sig of the headphones I have as long as they arenāt terrible. Funnily enough, the LCDX-C are the only headphones I always need to EQ
If I have to eq them for me to like them I donāt own them lol. I only eq for work on a few pairs of headphones. I donāt like to mod either, just enjoy the way it is
The pad consenus seems to be the stock aeolus and universal suede perforated, but I asked them to send me their ideal pads for 2 unique sounds while each play up to the specific headphone. I donāt want to force a sound signature to the Harmon curve for example, since I can appreciate a singular sound. Iād like to one day own all their variants so ideally I can pick a ZMF for my mood and source. Iāll let you know what they recommend when I hear back, but Iād recommend buying now if you want the Blackwood
100% same for me. If they all sound the same Iād only need one set of headphones, and whatās the fun in that?
Woo! What happened? Double charged people?
I wonder if these will be any different from the rest of their lineup. Are there any Audezeās that actually sound good? I listened to the 2C and the X and stopped there because they were so bad. The bass was definitely good but they were so dark and muddy sounding! Lacking in clarity and treble compared to other headphones I compared them toā¦ And people talk about the Sennheiser 6XXs being veiled! Geez. Are there any Audezesā worth listening to that might change my opinion?
This is all the payment processor, not Audezeā¦ And they probably didnt ātakeā the money itās likely on hold for authorization.
Nice little money earner if itās in the holding companies account until itās reimbursed
Really like the headphones so far but the stock pads are way too small for my ears. Hm5 pads do fit around the ear cup and the sound doesnāt change when you swap pads. I put angled pleather pads on these.
They are not pending transactions, they were on hold the first day, then went through. I would describe that as ātakingā, but really it is more like āstealingā. What am I supposed to think if this has never happened to me before? If an order is cancelled why accept money after? I donāt think itās done on purpose but it is a colossal fuck up.
How is the build quality and sound?
The build feels cheap. Like similar to the Takstar pro 82. Sound signature is similar to shp9500 but much clearer and less sibilant. The lcd1 donāt have the mid bass boost like the shps and it extends all the down to the sub bass.
Well I would hope itās more refined and resolving then the shps lol
thats 100% the case. shps are hard to listen to now
What amp are you using? Also glad your enjoying them
Iām using the jds labs atom
