šŸ”¶ Audeze LCD-X

Thanks, @M0N. That’s kinda the direction I’ve been leaning, but wasn’t sure if it overlapped too much with or is worth the upgrade from what I already have with the M1070 (Dekoni Elite Velour pads) and Aeon Open X. It’s been a few months since I listened to it, and it was only like 45 minutes of A/Bing with other sets.

Hmmm, do you know how old the unit you listened to was (like was it pre or post fazor)?

I will say that I would personally much rather take a lcd 2 over a m1070 or an aeon open x

I’m pretty sure it was a 2F

Gotcha, yeah that’s a nice headphone for sure :+1:

Honestly, as long as you listen to the author and remove their personal bias… dead on with the sound signature. These headphones are a neutral detailing machines while staying enjoyably pleasant the entire time. Comparing the LCD X to my Blon B20s, closer, more detailed, less tiring (B20s aren’t tiring but some pops come across). I can only speak for the lather pads, but the bass is good without being bass cannons and better than the Blons.

I’ll speak more when I get the my normal headphone amp back (THX 887). But with a an Airist R-2R and my Schiit Magni Heresy, these headphones sound SO GOOD. If you want planar headphones that just deliver, suck you into your sounds, can handle anything thrown at them… these might be it. I’ve read the reviews on the Hifiman Arya and after purchasing these I don’t care to seek them out to them. 10/10 and do recommend. Oh… get the creator package.

Other owners, what do the vegan pads sound like versus the leather?

Discovery, if you listen to your music with loudness normalization at all… these headphones sound dark and TERRIBLE. Double check your settings, somehow it got switched on me and my Blon B20 was sounding so much better on my 887. Got rid of the normalization, the LCD X’s sound much better. Let the driver handle the raw sound.

It’s a very revealing headphone.

I’m finding the headphones (pending setup) kinda leave some sound left on the table. I kind of want these on a mildly warm or slightly bright amp. Kinda looking Asgaurd 3 or even Jotunheim… lets be real… M0N will convince me to spend $100 over the Jotunheim for the RNHP.

Yeah, but the Asgard 3 will give you more slam and impact if that’s what you are after lol. But I would say the rnhp would be a larger upgrade

I would skip the jot tho

The burson soloist mk2 is also worth a look as well imo

Paired with the RNHP, you’ll b able to hear what your dac is doing.

The LCD-X’s Achilles are it’s recessed mids.

I’m not buying a new amp until I A/B test my THX with the Airist R-2R and the Bifrost 2 (after burn in)… or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Yeah the b2 should be an upgrade, make sure to take things somewhat slowly lol

Agree with this, change one thing at a time and give it plenty of time to really appreciate the change.
Otherwise you have little understanding of what is making what change.

I’m trying but the RNHP amp does look REALLY GOOD. Now that I have the Dekoni Elite Velour ordered, I have a have some degrees of freedom on the sound.

My Take away with LCD X (and sounds similar to other Audeze LCDs) is that the headphones are a little dark. The THX 887 (and 789) are neutral but lifeless and do not pair well with the LCD X the best. Something warm and bright would be a better pairing. I’m also wondering if THX has a slight compression on the sound.

I love my LCD-X as much as my LCD-3F… I’m an Audeze guy and love most everything they make. Mine are paired with Lyr (Reflektor '75 Silver Tubes) and the Bifrost. Upgraded both to the Black Dragon and Silver dragon cables.

I’ve really been enjoying my lcd 24, but otherwise my fav lcd are the 2.2 non fazor

I didn’t know you picked up the 24’s (I think :older_man:t3:).

How’s the sound?

I like them, the LCD 4 was always nice but I never really got into the signure, so taking the LCD 2 sig with the technicalities of the 4 was a win for me. Traded my 2.2 and mx4 for them

So it’s kind of like a warmer, smoother 4?

I would say so yeah
