đŸ”¶ Audioquest NightHawk

that would be pretty nice imo, I think it works well with the nighthawk, and also if you get a balanced cable I would recommend

The connector are 2.5 but they go pretty deep into the cups. So the main thing is you want ones that have narrow housing to fit into the holes of the cups. For example my teak and hifiman plugs won’t fit in there. Unless maybe if I shaved down the housing. However the hd700 balanced cord I have from venture electronics fit just fine and work great.

These ones will work. You’ll just have to request the cable to be made into a 2.5 balanced if you’re going to use it with the btr5

These guys should work as well

A few bucks cheaper and will come faster.

If you get the 3.5 unbalanced version of two amazon ones they’ll be cheaper too. I have this cable that I got for my teaks years ago.

I just tested it and it works just fine. Not as annoying at the stock cable either. To be fair, my stock cable doesn’t bug me as much as it does others it seems. It’s mainly just really stiff. But the one I listed above is only 24 bucks if you just need a replacement unbalanced cable. Looks pretty nice for the price if I do say so myself

Discussing cables making audible changes is where I leave the conversation. Sorry, I think it is ludicrous to believe in that snake oil.

That’s not what we are discussing here. The audible difference with the btr5 is getting a balanced cable as the btr5 preformed better off of balanced

Yeah sound is not my concern. Mainly thinking about usability. Although I’m interested in trying balanced since the BTR5 has the capability.

I misinterpreted what you wrote, my bad. The cables for the nighthawks both are irritating. The thick one has that annoying twist effect and the thinner one is like an IEM cable. When I owned my Nighthawks, I also had a pair of Th-x00 Ebony that I modded for same 2.5mm connectors. I had a periapt cable and a mimic cable. The periapt cables had the sturdier build but both worked the way they were supposed to.

The fostex cables are like a vacuum cord, too unwieldy for my tastes lol

Yeah they are bad. It wouldn’t be so awful I’d they weren’t so damn long. The length makes the weight irritating. Focal makes some long ass cables too.

Focal cables are janky af lol, pretty poor quality for the price lol

I’ve never auditioned the Elex. Did massdrop change the cable for the elex? I really like the massdrop changed HD58x cable
more so than Sennheiser stock cables.

Pretty much the same thing, still a focal cable lol

Damn. Any of the focal line have a non jank cable? I’m highly considering the Elegia once I sell my Neumann’s.

God the elegia cable is bad lol. Too short and jank. All focal cables are not great, although the listen pro came with a decent cable lol

Damn. Is it as bad as the Neumann cable?

I would argue worse lolol. I would strongly consider an aftermarket cable with the elegia

Gotcha. I have time as I still need to sell the Neumann’s.

Don’t like them as much now?

I love the Neumann’s, but the comfort just isn’t there. My ears take a beating cause of the pad cavity being too small. It’s a shame really as I love the way they sound.

Hmmm, I am curious if you would like an elegia. I wonder if the aeon 2 closed would be up your alley (it’s pretty awesome imo)
