Yeah Iā€™m definitely the type that will ever argue for over a 50-60 cable to be honest. I donā€™t think any audible differences will happen above that, only build quality and convenience. I do believe that the difference between balanced and unbalanced is there, but I donā€™t think itā€™s anything major.

I donā€™t necessarily think youā€™ll get a huge advantage in balanced with these to be honest. I mainly use balanced for my higher impedance headphones to get a little more juice out of them.

If you get the btr5 and donā€™t mind spending an extra 40 bucks, go ahead and get the balanced, who knows, it may be useful for future headphones. I use my one balanced cable for my 4xx, my teaks, and now my nighthawks, so it may be worth it for future use.

That said, I donā€™t think youā€™ll gain as much from balanced on the nighthawks as some others since itā€™s such a low impedance. In such case, maybe just go for a simple 20-30 dollar one like I sent and itā€™ll at least be more comfortable to use.

They do still appreciate the quality bump and power bump imo, I think itā€™s worth to go balanced if you go with the btr5, as it really brings out the best of the fiio

No I definitely agree! I just mean not as much of a advantage as some other headphones. Say my 4xx, I absolutely need the balanced cable on those just to get the power they need to get them to the volume I like. I do think that any headphone will benefit from balanced regardless, of I can go balanced on any headphone, especially if I happen to have a cable for it, I will always use it.

Iā€™ll also admit that I like a cable with some color and bling myself . But only 60 bucks worth of bling for me lol

I like the look of those Periapt cables the best. Like to keep the stealth look on the Nighthawks as much as possible.
I donā€™t see an option for a 2.5mm to dual 2.5mm though. I only see 3.5mm to dual 2.5mm. Would they do that custom for the same price?

I think if youā€™re only asking for a different connect then they should do it at no cost or even very little cost. I know they will do it for sure but youā€™ll just have to email to see if they will charge you for it. I kinda doubt the will charge.

That is another Iā€™m considering. To be honest, it will just have to come down to what I can find at the best price. But Iā€™m still shocked at how much I am enjoying the Sivga P-II. I didnā€™t think they would impress me as much as they have. They really are a nice change up to my 2 mains (Atticus and LCD-2C).

Well thatā€™s great that you are enjoying the p-II :+1:

Yeah, they are awesome. The treble really is magical. The fact it is elevated but doesnā€™t bother my sensitivity is really what has me dumbfounded. I had a 6 hour gaming session last night with them and not a tic of fatigue. :grinning:

Yeah the main appeal to the sendy driver types is the treble detail imo, although the range isnā€™t as impressive to me

I agree. They are unique enough though to enter my keeper group. Atticus, LCD-2C, HD650 and Argons are my keepers along with the P-II.

A very wide range of sounds right there lol

Yes, that is what Iā€™m going for. Just need a closed back that is more neutral/linear and the group will be completeā€¦for now.

Sounds like the aeon 2 closed or elegia to me, so that makes it a bit more simple lol

Absolutely. :sunglasses:

Iā€™m thinking that unbalanced one you linked can probably be converted to balanced? I donā€™t really want to spend so much extra to get the balanced. I was having trouble finding small enough connectors that fit the Nighthawks.

What do you mean buy converting to balanced?

Thought I could chop off the single-ended 3.5mm TRS, and assuming there should be four wires, I could wire it to a TRRS or XLR?

I think if youā€™re going down that road you would probably be better off practically building a cable yourself from scratch. You can always check aliexpress if you trust it ha.

I managed to get these on there like a year or so ago for like 35 or 40 bucks. I actually love this type of cable. No noise from rubbing and light and super flexible.

I would agree with this since itā€™s more likely to work than taking an existing cable and modifying it to be balanced
