I havenāt dug around in music discussion very much. Maybe that would be a better place for this. But, I think it would be as simple as one of us creating a collaborative list and then posting the link. Then anyone with the link can follow it and add to the playlist. Even free Spotify memberships can listen and add.
Here is a link to a playlist I started on Spotify. MikeG is on there too adding some stuff. I think anyone should be able to add if they follow this link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7H9UV3xNNNxXyNUvKisMrj?si=hyYS7RSFQryPqy2rbwy1UA
Ok, so music direct cancelled my order for some reason and now theyāre $250 on the site. Iām now on ebay looking for a used pair instead. Lol
Why? Did they say why?
The jig is up!
If you havenāt used them before they try to contact you over the phone to confirm some information like your billing and shipping address. I almost didnāt listen to the voicemail since I thought it looked like spam. Itās possible they couldnāt get ahold of you and cancelled.
Still being sold on Amazon for $250 USD so not quite yet is it up. Still great for the price.
Ah, no they said it had to do with region restrictions & to contact my local distributor. Pretty bummed since I was able to key in my address info and a temporary authorization charge was made to my card.
But it might actually be a good thing, since I went on ebay to look around I found they are going for less than $200 used so I might get it from there instead.
Be sure that you are getting a pair with both pad sets and that looks like it is in good condition. Thereās a fair amount I have found that looked like they werenāt treated very well.
Yeah I actually went on YouTube to look up unboxing videos to check that the stuffs actually match.
So apparently Iāve placed a couple of nighthawks in my ebay cart before, some time ago. Totally forgot about that. Lol
Haha Iāve done that with things on eBay before.
Peter Tyson in England have them for Ā£250 which given it includes 20% sales tax (VAT) and shipping is a good deal for UK based people.
These are just a really comfortable, really enjoyable headphone that eschews conventional wisdom to deliver something really very special. Given what they did with Oppo it would be nice if Drop bought the IP to them.
I saw a Schiit Asgard 2 available used for around $80, would that be a good match for my Nighthawks? Still looking at the BTR5 but this is kinda tempting.
Personally no imo, I think it would be better off to buy the magni heresy or monolith liquid spark. The asgard 2 had some issues that I really personally disliked like the peaky signature and also compressed sound, kinda sounded unrefined.
The asgard 3 fixed all of these issues for me and also upgraded the sound as well, and they also revamped the magnis to where they are actually good again lol
If your got canceled due to me Iām super sorry. Mine just arrived
What are your thoughts so far?
If Iām running off of a newer Macbook pro, would I do well picking up one of these and then getting a separate DAC a little later? Or am I better off just going straight for the BTR5 since itās a combo?
That would work no problem for the time being
I would say it would depend on if you take it portable often. If you find that itās only used in one stationary spot, then the dedicated dac and amp would be my rec. If you used it on the go or moved stuff commonly, the btr5 would be my pick for convenience with still good sound
What standalone DAC would be your recommendation when I save up my pennies for that piece?
