šŸ”¶ Audioquest NightHawk

I havenā€™t ever owned an amp. What changes can I expect it to make in the sound compared to listening straight off my Macbook Pro?

More slam and control over the driver, better dynamic range, more detail retrieval (sometimes), it just really brings out the headphones

Thatā€™s not a bad thought, since they seem to be clearing out the Nighthawks and they might not be available later, but the DAC upgrade card (maybe even a next gen?!) will be available for a long time.

Also since he got the asgard without the dac inside he could just get a different dac in the future or something too, perhaps pick up a used bifrost multibit in the future or something to stack

Iā€™d like to grab the Bifrost, honestly. It looks like itā€™d stack perfectly with the Asgard. That being said, the other options for R2R Iā€™m looking at since Iā€™m interested in that tech would be the Soekris, or the Airist. But I like the aesthetic combination of the Schiit stack so Iā€™d probably be a holdout for the Bifrost.

Also I hope I can get enough money for the Nighthawks before they sell out Iā€™d hate to buy used tbh

If you wanted a decent price on the multibit

I think the airist is also good. I think you might be paying too much for the soekris stuff tho (although I donā€™t know your budget)

Theyā€™re still on Amazon for 250 USD. They are going fast though!

Eh right now itā€™s casual shopping so right now the skyā€™s the limit lol thatā€™s why I am considering Bifrost 2 or Soekris (though the casing for 1321 looks kinda cheap for the price imoā€¦)

TBH, if you wanted to go that high, I would suggest you would already have a few 500 ish headphones, and also a better amp before you spend 600 or on a dac imo

Like the Nighthawk

Aaaa I have yet to get a real job though and idk when thatā€™ll happen for me. I just hope that when I do theyā€™ll still be there-

I hope so too! They are my favorite headphones.

Also the reason why I was looking at the LCD-2 fazor lol-

Lol thatā€™s a pretty sweet headphone (there are a ton of sweet headphones in that range) and are a good value with the used prices you can find them at

Seriously they are an eyecatcher to me and I really want to have emā€™. I had the same hope for the TR-X00 Ebony, but then those sold out around the time I got the 4XX

I saw the prices on hifishark. Itā€™s really tempting, but I still have a bit of a personal stigma around used stuff, regardless if it was a really nice product. Itā€™s silly, but thatā€™s how I roll for the most part.

I guess thatā€™s fair, but used can offer way more value tbh

Hifishark is awesome. Iā€™m finding some great prices for ifi Micro IDSD Black Label on there, when I save up enough Iā€™ll try to get one.

Part of the reason I buy new is that I like the assurance (for the most part) of factory new quality. That the time I spend using it new and for however long justifies the money spent on it. I mean Iā€™m sure others would think the same way when they use their products, but I like the sense of ownership that comes with grabbing it new. It is totally a feeling of being sentimental, but thatā€™s how Iā€™d like to treat this sort of stuff than simply grabbing the hand me down. Is it foolish? Of course it is. But is it neat for me? Yeah it is.
