So yes, they are very easy to drive, but for some reason these scale well with amps and DACs. Just ask M0N or @Jose_G , they benefit a good deal from it. So while it certainly is not required at all, it does improve it! Fiio M11 is a great piece of equipment to drive them, seems like a great DAP.

it opened up a bit with the a3 but I really donāt think its worth upgrading an amp/dac solely for these cansā¦ Iāve tried them on 4 amps and 3 dacsā¦ maybe its just me though
I canāt say how good the m11 is. So probably ask mon since he has it if itās worth but I will say this. I found the hawks to be way better on an amp, adds alot of slam to the bass and sounds more alive in my expirience.

Are you using 3.5 or balanced? Might see some benefit going from 3.5 to a dedicated amp but then you could look for a balanced cable to see a similar benefit (i assumed you were using balanced but I shouldāve asked)

@donjklassen I have purchased a balanced cable so by the sounds of it that could be all I need, the Fiio M11 will certainly have the juice to drive these bad boys!

yessss, for the longest time there was an anti pleather pads here. But after trying them out for more time alot of people ended up liking the pleather too, maybe even over the suede. Both are nice to check out

My initial impressions from unboxing are they remind me a little of the LCD2C but the major difference is that I forget I am even wearing these. I know itās very early days but I would go as far to say that it doesnāt feel or sound as though I am listening through headphones but in a small room with speakers. For a semi closed/open back headphone they sure isolate well.
I have tried both sets of pads, I havenāt got a favourite even though with the microsuede pads I am getting a much warmer sound, which is more to my personal taste but having said that I am also liking the sound with the pleathers just as much!
I think itās fair to say that I am definitely in the club, fellasā¦I am absolutely in love with these already and I am so glad I listened to the good advice you provided me!

Although I have the Original Hawkāsā¦ I felt the same reactionā¦ At times they are the most isolating wide openās I have ever heard. There are times as others have stated that you think something is not there but it isā¦ The Low end will sneak up on you as well. I also find the comfort amazing and have to remember that I have them on so I either donāt rip the cable out or damage anythingā¦ Glad you appreciate them as they are unique just as these are but different.
I have had them on for 2 hours and donāt want to take them off. I have gone into self isolation! Everything I have thrown at it so far has been handled with aplomb. I really dont get what some of the reviews were saying about a wonky or weird sound. The sound totally awesome.
These are not headphones, I am going to reclassify these as over-ear speakers!

Iāve been silently following this thread for a while and bought the NH Carbons a couple of months ago and have been enjoying them ever since. Last night while I was listening to a new song, I heard this PA announcement coming from a distance and took off the NHs to figure where the announcement was coming from. I was completely shocked when I realized that the announcement was part of the track and coming from the NHs! I ordered a new upgraded cable so I can to take full advantage of what these HPs can doā¦

So glad you have not been disappointed! Enjoy them! You will probably notice them change as they burn in. I definitely noticed a difference after a while.

Mine just arrived. Not gonna comment on sound yet but these are probably the most premium things that Iāve unboxed or own.
The build of the headphones, the heft, the carrying case, the pouches, everything tells me āmoney well spentā. Iām lucky and grateful that my used set came in a complete set and pretty much brand new condition. I donāt even think the cleaning cloth has been used. If there is one thing, I think the cables have been stored away for a while that they start to feel like sticky rubber.
Overall I have never been happier with this impulse buy and oh boy am I gonna enjoy these.
