No kidding, he already shipped it. It’s expected to be here by tomorrow lol. Anyway, So i wanted to chime back in here again to ask something that I was curious on. SO I have a liquid spark amp and topping d10 dac but I wasn’t sure if these would appropriately compliment the sound of the nighthawk carbon. Opinions?

That’s a great amp and dac, should be sweet imo

I was curious on it
as I did read that the Magni 3+ creates a warmer sound than the liquid spark. Wasn’t sure if that was better
essentially the same price bracket. Dunno about switchin dacs at all at this current point in time. I didn’t really notice any big difference with my headphones using the topping d10 compared to just my onboard

I personally wouldn’t agree with this, the spark is noticeably more colored than the 3+ from my experience, the 3+ is a tad warmer but really still rather neutral. I do think the 3+ would have a bit better impact, but the liquid spark is a bit wider amp. I might have been concerned about loosing a bit of air with the spark, but the d10 being a brighter dac offsets this a bit

I’d stick with the liquid spark and see what you think
I really enjoy that pairing personally

hmm, well alright. Doesn’t hurt to ask still new to that whole setup as I am used to not even having a amp and dac.

Cross-posted from “What Did I Buy Today?”

Wanted to add, though: I bought these (new) from a place called Sunny’s for $305 shipped ($290, no tax outside CA, paid shipping).

Seems like they’re getting difficult to find. I wasn’t sure if this was a “deal,” but inventory seems spotty and prices are a little all over the place. Reading backwards it sounds like there were better prices a couple months ago, but this looked like a decent enough offering to join the gang before membership closes for good.

Chime in here real quick. Let you know I did get the package. I haven’t got around to checking them out yet. Thank you.

First impressions? Good lord I hate the pads it comes with they just aren’t very comfortable to me. Sound wise? yeah these are a definite keeper. I normally hate darker or warmer style headphones
these are definitely the exception to that rule going to have to sit with these for a bit before I consider what to do with them.

The pads are comfy, but almost too small for my ears, maybe its just dwarfism compared to the 95x pads that make me conscious of all others

The suede fit are close to the exact size of my ears
Just wish they had more padding honestly. Hmm, anyone have any idea bout pad swapping on this headphone? Nighthawk Carbons.

You definitely can yeah. As long as you can stretch them around the rings you’re good. I know someone had tried the shure alcantara pads on them before. You could try brainwavs pads too. Just don’t know if you’d do the ovals or rounds

Really? Wow. You must have pretty big ears then. People say my ears are fairly large and the pads feel giant to me. I see some people put Shure pads on these, but the suede is what really gives the unique imaging and sound qualities they possess. Other pads tend to remove that from what I hear. But you can certainly try them if you want.

Either one, I could just use some insight on it as I want to improve the sound not kill it. They do kind of sound slightly muffed to me right now
I am not sure if thats cause of my setup or just not being burned in. I love the sound outside of the muffle and the earcup fit.

if you were following my posts yeah
this is why i had an issue with the sundara pads
my ears are friggin huge lmao. the suede just barily fit almost picture perfect size.

That’s part of the headphones in my opinion. They have more of a mental burn in. They present things so different than when you first listen to them after most other headphones, they sound kinda muffled or shallow in the higher frequencies. But if you only listen to them for a few days then you adjust. There will be a little improvement from actual burn in too likely.

They’re not the kinda headphones you can just pop on and enjoy lol. I’ve had them a few months and anytime I first put them on after not listening for a while, from my Aeolus, or aeons, or my new elegias, they will immediately sound off. Then you just sit and listen to them for a bit and they sound better again.

That’s the best way I can describe them. Not only do you have to mental burn in to acclimate to them, but you have to re acclimate to them every time you take a break from them.

The leather pads will bring down the bass a bit and sound a tad bit more clear though as well. I swap between the two but I actually lean more towards the leather, contrary to most that like the suede more.

I briefly tried the 1540 pads, but I cant recall off hand on the sonic changes, more comfort for me for sure just cus the tip to tip of my ears were not touching anywhere.

Well thats why I was thinking maybe pad swap
 I dont need more bass
even barily moving the bar for bass on an equalizer makes them a damn bass cannon in your ears which caught me off guard. I need a cleaner wider sound I think. I do see what you mean though. I dont want to drastically alter that sound
by any means its different and i really like it
just needs a slight alteration in clean and wide with a different pad that actually fits my head. if anyone has a good recommendation for this I am definitely all ears lol
