Have like 10 sets of cans and OG Hawks are in the top 3 and often the topā€¦ depending on mood and musicā€¦

Yea, these sound really cool. Awesome the way they present music.

Many rave about the Carbon and apparently that is a different sound then theseā€¦I really enjoy the maybe weird ( not really) sound of the OG.

How does the OG differ than the Carbons? I only have the Carbons?

from what I have heard, the carbons have a more ā€œnormalā€ signature from the OG. (not better or worse)

I think the pads that are included differed as well

To me the Carbons have that slight echoing sound with speaker like sound. A very unique sound signature.

the og nighthawks donā€™t come with the suede pads which can be a big factor in some peoples purchasing decision. suedes are somewhat of a fan favourite around here.

I find a more balanced sound with the protein leather. The mids and highs are slightly less recessed/ or bass is less pronounced. I did not do a detailed listen between to the 2 pad types. But the comfort of the suedeā€™s ā€¦

I prefer the comfort of the suede, but I also prefer it for other things over the leather, not just bass quantity. The suede pads accentuate the unique imaging qualities they possess, and the spatial recreation is much more interesting. The leather pads do make these sound brighter, but they do so at the cost of less 3D sounding imaging, which is a deal breaker for me. The presentation and imaging is probably the most special thing about the Nighthawk to me.

I will have to listen more carefully for the differences. Thank you for the clarification

Iā€™ve had these on loan for the last few weeks but Iā€™m loving them so much that Iā€™m definitely keeping them.

And yes thatā€™s a suede pilot pad on the comfort strap, and yes itā€™s stupid comfy

do you think we will ever find a good nighthawk alternativeā€¦ thinking about with the music i listen to a V ish shape might be useful for the next upgrade seeing as i mostly listen to hard rock, electronic, pop, and hip hop (specifically something fast, dynamic, and with a decent amount of mid and bass spike and some trebel for hihats from hip hop)

Iā€™m pretty new to the hifi game, but I havenā€™t heard anything that comes close to sounding like the nighthawks - and I am not sure many people here have either after reading a ton of these thread for the past few months.

I really enjoy bass with most of the music I listen to, and have been rocking with the Dekoni Blues with ZMF cowhide pads for the past month and they have tons of impact and slam - really fun headphoneā€¦ but after wearing my nighthawks again for the past 2 days there is just really something different about this pair of headphones lol. It is just so easy for me to listen to and they are so incredibly comfy. If anyone knows something similar, I think most of us would be all ears! (hehe)

Do these have specific replacement pads? Looking to try suede. I have an extra pair that came with my Eikons. Would these work? Ear cups on the hawks look pretty unique though

Are these no longer available for purchase?
