Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews (A Million views?) Part 3/4

Chris out of interest and slap ya mod if I’m wrong? apart from the impedance adaptor with the set that shall not be named you’ve always turned sets that work with your library as best you can, but I don’t ever recall any with dip switches? is this a manufacturers thing or a personal call?

Measured on a 711 (those measurements were from LS, not sure what rig they’re using), the EJ10 pinna follows Cadenza 4 quite closely. A friend measured the demo unit on his 711, with C4 and C12 2024 as controls measured on his same rig. Here they are:

For context, the planned RRP for EJ10 will be at least $2300 USD. I’ve been listening to the demo unit for a couple days now. Enjoying it a lot. The detail, texture, layering, depth is something special compared to everything else I’ve heard (including e.g. Cadenza 12, Omnium, Crimson). It’s an engaging listen, but I found the treble a little intense at first. With a bit of brain burn-in it settled nicely. The treble is forward, but smooth. The engagement from the upper registers is balanced by good body through the mids. Things feel really nicely filled out, meaty. The bass has great impact to it, and is very well separated and controlled. It also feels well balanced between mid and subbass, with a slight emphasis on the subbass. Vocal tone is excellent, both male and female voices sound natural. It’s not a vocal centric set, they take a step back relative to the bass and treble but not so much as is often the case with V-shaped sets. The vocals stay clear and full bodied, avoiding he common V tuning mistake of making voices feel thin (especially male voices).

When I talk about “engagement” from the treble, it reminds me of the @VIVIDICI_111 's Estrella (going from memory here), which I enjoyed for the same reason, just everything is done to a higher level with the EJ10 when it comes to detail retrieval, separation, and bass impact/control (as one would hope for a set in this price range :money_mouth_face: ). The depth and layering really draws you in.

While I found the Cadenza 12 2024 tuning a little too safe, this is definitely more up my alley with much more satisfying bass. Works great for rap (kendrick), pop/electropop (Beyonce, Charlie xcx, FKA twigs), acoustic/rock (Joni Mitchell, Fleet Foxes, Fleetwood Mac). Jazz like Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington’s Mood Indigo, and Black Is The Color by Nina Simone are breathtaking.

Yeah, it’s honeymoon period still for sure, and this is a set we’ve been discussing in the AudioGeek EU group for almost 2 months, so the anticipation build-up is real, but this one is doing something special. Thanks to @Jon_let for involving us in the process

$2300.

CRAP.

By the way, you should really, and I mean REALLY, try it with the Cayin Ru7. That thing does magic with energetic tribrid sets on its 64dsd setting.

Glad you like our arguably the best fun / sounding LS set yet! Before it, I never thought it’s achievable as you said most can achieve a V shaped but our pinnacle of the EJ series managed full body and clarify with high resolution. Like you said, it’s magical :heart_eyes:

Its quite remarkable really. I was wondering quite a few times what is hiding here. what is the trick. why was there not any compromise that is obvious to archive this?

Im quite sensitive to to much energy in the ear gain but thats absolutley not an issue here.
it feels smoother than c4 even and I remember I got that set after the HBB review that praised it like almost as good as C12!

Please take discussion of Letshuoers new set to the proper thread.
I don’t have it, never heard it, likely not getting it.
Everybody enjoy.
This being talked about by several folks who don’t often comment in here is kinda weird.

I am definitely getting Monarch MKIV

Lets talk about that. :+1:

Monarch mk 4 looks epic. I’m going to buy one as I feel it will be good. Excited to see the price and hope it’s in * line with the other monarchs.

I love the tuning switch idea, metallic shell and hope it fits my needs.

Looking forward to hearing thoughts on it.

No. Hoping Tarrif wars doesn’t make it notably more than prior Monarchs :crossed_fingers:

I almost bought Fugaku but it went from 15k to 17k…and somehow that was too rich for my blood

I think running is the best way to go but ima do an Exercycle with virtual courses and sparring. Break into the 55

Low resting heart rates without training can be an indicator of a bad heart. This is directed at readers who are non active :v:

Yep.
We have Familial Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy running in the family.

If I would follow your training schedule I might quite literally drop dead. (This happened with my uncle while on a bicycle tour)

Still, I bike or walk to work and do a 20-30km hike every saturday (but on a comfy average of 5,2km/hr)
Hiking through the forest while letting your mind wander is the best stressrelief imo.

Actually, I never had problem with my heart. Doctors did not found anything through my entire life with it and I always had such low RHR. Blood pressure was and is normal beside my low HR. Yeah, my entire HR is lower usually than the average. Also, I never had a broken bone in my life, only thing I had is a hip surgery on both sides in my Primary School years because of hip sprain that came back when I grew quickly. My thigh bones grew straight instead of the usual angle that should connect perfectly to the hips. So, after that, doctors said, no running or jumping, just bike or swim. Especially swimming.

Now, that I have an active daughter and we both like water. We plan to go swimming together, for her to learn swimming and for me to do what I love the most regarding exercises.

Also, I went to swimming and did Tai Chi training for years before I moved with my wife, so I had an active life before work.

I had to chuckle when I read ‘rumble’ mode. Sounds like the haptic feedback controllers they used (still use perhaps) to use with consoles.

That is wild.

It seems there are usually two camps when it comes to cardio: those who run and those who cycle. I’m in the running camp (just feels more engaging and direct) but my physical therapist warned me that it’s brutal on the joints (which most of us know already in all likelihood). Might go for the bike option after all.
