Basshead IEM recs

It is that 5,3k area that kills me.

I lowered it by 7 db with EQ.

If you would like another recommendation that does bass beautifully, I recommend Hyla Sarda if you can get your hands on one. It’s probably the best bass, slam, and texture I have experienced. I also own Sarda + Trio if you want me to make any comparisons as well. Best of luck on your search!

Would be nice even if I don’t end up getting them. I made my first payment of $1.5k AUD start of this month. Next month another then another in December. Please do it to enlighten the community about it. But yeah thanks for another recommendation. I am also thinking of getting the ThieAudio Legacy 3’s as my first pair of CIEMs for $300+ + $55 ear impressions rather than dive straight into $2000 AUD worth of CIEMs. That’s all from me for now. Updates when I get the Trios. I think the aftermarket cable my friend got is coming tomorrow so yeah along with a new PC.

I can answer any specific questions if you have any, but I would like to add that I cannot appreciate the technology 64 audio puts into their IEMs enough.
Both apex and LID are really game changers for me. Out of the 3 IEMs I have, if I had to choose to only keep one, I’d easily choose the tia Trio.
It is a superb all-rounder that fits all of my music, super forgiving, can wear it all day long, and although not recommended, can easily power from my phone.

Yes I’m never selling my pair. Even if someone offers me $5k AUD for it lol. But the CIEM game will be interesting was going for N8 CIEM as I said but I think I will do the sane thing and go cheaper first and experience the fit the issues and what not plus China and Linsoul make great IEMs so yeah. EDIT: Also super shocked that they internalised the APEX technology although it kind of sucks because you unable to change modules unlike U12t or the others in the UIEM and CIEM lineups from 64 Audio…

Hi! I want to get some IEMs for the bus, preferably for a lot of bass. I can get a new pair of Sony EX800STs for about $210 and a lightly used pair of Sony EX1000s for $60ish more. Which should I get? Are there any other IEMs I should look into (ie. Campfire Audio Polaris II)? I would value the bass impact and quantity over the quality to a reasonable degree. I have a semi-flexible budget of around $400 as I can sometimes find some products for far below MSRP (again, the Polaris II).
Thank you!

Both the sony´s are horrible in terms of isolation. So definitely NOT recommended to use outside.

Ibasso IT00
Fiio FH3
Tingker TK200
Final Audio E5000

Those are the ones I have and can recommend.

Heard good things about these (but havent heard them):

Thor Mjölnir
Ikko OH10

Thank you for all the recommendations!
Just wondering, is it possible to get a better seal/better isolation with tip changes on the Sony’s?
It may seem that am focusing too much on the Sonys but I have an excuse: they rank very highly on Crinacle’s ranking list.

I’ll search up all of the other IEMs though!

The isolation weakness is due to the fit style (the shell doesnt really touch your ears and of course that means it doesnt cover your ears either = sound will leak) and the giant vent (which probably could be helped by taping the vent). You can probably fix the vent but not the fit, so isolation is something you cant help on them.

Oh… Thank you for the clarification. Of the recommendations you’ve mentioned, which one do you like the best? Have you ever listened to the Polaris II or any of the JVC IEMs?

Fiio FH3, because it got both quality and quantity (bass).

Havent heard the polaris 2 but have tried the JVC FW02 (it was so bad I returned it, way too overpriced).

You can check my database, all iems I have heard is ranked there.

Thank you!

Np, good luck.

I agree, the Sony’s dont isolate much and look a little weird when being worn, but the SQ is pretty good, if the 1k looks really good thats a good price, just make sure your not treble sensitive. They take EQ well and Riku has some good EQ presets based on what he has shared with me so I know you can get them pumping. The tape mod is overkill to me, but some may like it so you can go for that too. I think the impact on the OH10 and FH3 may be a little more, but its still really good and close etc. JVC FDX1 is too thin for the bass impact imo. I think you can bump it tho and it can sound good, but I still lean EX800st due to comfort, they are so light they disappear to me.

yeah, they (ex800st) really take EQ well. But since OP mentioned using it in the bus, I cant rec it due to the isolation. You will lose a lot of bass with that poor isolation and if you increase your volume to compensate for that…well your ears will hate you for that lol.

Yea maybe the OH10 then, I’m just biased for being more for neutral stuff lately so its hard for me to go with it 100%. I seen the OH1 was under 100$ now so that may be a better option vs FH3. The OH10 at 180 feels like a let down to me compared to the Ex800st or my FDX1, again the bias is real tho atm LOL Sorry folks :frowning:

Hard to beat the beryllium bass in the FH3 though and havent heard many people talk about the OH1.

Agreed, for personal listening I give the nod to the FH3. I think the upper mid shout of the OH10 may be better if you are in loud places, but I cant think of a situation where I prefer it at this point since the FH3 is cleaner and seems to have extra bite in the treble that the 10 doesn’t. I mean they are close, but not 50$ close, if they were the same then meh.
