Best budget headphones under 100$ for gaming

Interesting  altho I can’t use the GSP 300 outside for obvious reasons…

Yes, they are clearly restricted to home usage lol

Isn’t the m40x generally recommended over the 50?

Yeah, I would agree with that, but @Spech wanted to see what the m50xs were about lol

Honestly I wouldn’t get the M40’s they seem to sound warm with recessed mids and a big peak at 15k, I find warm to be really boring (my HyperX Cloud have the same warmness at 150hz) unless its done really well, also the recessed mids are a no no.

The M50x seem to have a more specific sound thats not warm or cold, but different and I’m curious about that also I wanna see what the hype and the hate is all about.

can any adapter do the job or they actually differ in quality because they range from like 1$ to 20$ in my area for no obvious reason

Any adapter can do the job, I just like the one I linked because it’s durable

thank you

A quick feedback: now i tried it for few days and i am not really impressed, the sound seems muffled/low quality that really kills the experience. And even for sound staging/imaging that supposedly this headphone shines in is not impressive, i mean my old generic cheap $10 headphone does better in both sound quality and staging/imaging.
I am not sure what is going on or if i am missing something, but if this is really the case i am really disappointed

Hmm maybe you need something more bright? Does it get loud?
Make sure you windows audio settings don’t have any effects and is set to the highest quality.

The 559 is just not that good, from what I’ve read and seen its very very warm which can be seen as muddy.

I recommend you return them and try to get a bit more money and buy a 58X from Drop they are only $135 right now !! its a really really good deal !

Edit: I completely forgot about this thread, should’ve stopped you from buying the 559 when I had the chance xD

Well I would agree for the most lark. But the 559 is warm but to me never muffled and staging and imaging was pretty good so I find this strange. But it doe lack treble detail for some. So like iwas saying something brighter might be up his alley

If for some reason you can’t gather the extra money for the 58X, then get the AKG K361 they are $99 or the MH751 if you need a good mic as well (the K361 should sound better tho).

Also I suggest you stay away from warm headphones if you consider the 559 muddy, I am also not a fan of warm sound and I can definitely see that.

But the 58x is a warm headphone…

Nah it’s a mid forward headphone it would be warm if it was only boosted in the 150-300hz area but the mid boost extends to from 200hz to 3k on the 58X so its a mid forward headphone imo

I agree it’s mid forward but has enough bass to be warm. Like I always say graphs not tell the whole story I own the thing. I would label it warm as well as being mid forward.

From what I understand it’s not the bass that makes a headphone warm its the highbass-lowmids area, having bass just means that the headphone has bass if that makes sense

From what I heard warm headphones tend to have a good mix of obviously mids and nice lows. Not deep or punchy necessarily but just that whole vibe of mids and pleasant lows adding to the experience

Yes and the 58x does just that as well it has good bass extension and pretty good focus on the mids overall. If you think this sound signature is muffled then maybe you just need more treble. But his experience sounds very odd to me anyway.

I don’t think the 58X would sound muddy but the 599 or 559 would sound muddy to me cuz of the warmness in the 150-300hz area

The 58X measures like this:

While the 599 (the 559 measure similarly from what I know) measure like this:

See how the 58X has flat mids boosted a bit yes but flat across from 200hz to 3k while the 599 has boosted high bass/low mids from 150hz to like 500hz which makes them warm they also have a dip at 1.6k which contributes to the warm shape.
