Thank you i ordered velour ones. I read some more comments from people that had hybrid ones and velour and they said velour ones are best. I was still torn about elite fenestrated and choice suede ones but there were some really negative comments about them so velour looks like safe choice.
I listen on them now for about hour and some stuf is really way better than my previous audio technica ad900x. Only thing i kind a wish to solve is that head band is not as comfortable as audio technica one.
Is there some kind of pad for headband?
Yes there are a few solutions for the headband like the dekoni choice headband or dekoni nuggets but i dont know how good they are never needed headbands for my 1990 because its really confortable for me
I wouldt get fenstered or choice suede they just mess up the tuning they have to much bass
But what is worth looking at are the amiron wireless foam disc they tame the treble response and give it a few db more at the bass and increase the stage and holographic feel and that for just 5 bucks i think everyone with a 1990 should try these out
I found oratory preset [Harman AE/OE Analytic Earpads - 10 Band Graphic EQ] . Should i still do it when i get dekoni pads and that amiron disk. (works on my Asus Xonar STX II soundacrd)
That amiron disk i put inside dekoni pad or first disk then pad on it?
You put it where the old disc is you pop of the pads then you pop of the ring thats holds the foam disc and replace it just get the foam disc anyway they work really great without the bad impact of software eq
I didnt like the oratory eq at all it sounded really bad to me
This is my first ever post, but a long time lurker here! I just wanted to say Iāve officially joined the DT 1990 Pro Fam as I just placed an order today.
Iām not that much of an audiophile, but Iāve been wanting to get a pair of endgame headphones for awhile now. After much research, Iāve finally settled on the DT 1990 Pro because I wanted something that would be:
Superb build quality. Iām not that delicate with my electronics lol, so I wanted something that was not only made of supreme material but built like a tank. I was tempted by other choices like Hifimanās line but I was worried of the reputation that it had built in their build quality. Also, on a personal standpoint, the 1990 look pretty badass to me!
competitive FPS. I play a ton of WZ and I have heard nothing but praise for DT 1990 in the FPS genre.
Something that was known to be a great all-around pair of cans. Since Iāll only own a single pair of headphones, it was important to me that it would be a great jack-of-all-trades pair (for multiple genres of music, gaming, etc.). I know people have made many posts of siblance and treble, etc. But Iāve read so many posts about how the 1990 can be manipulated in several ways to adjust the sound (whether it be different pads or EQ settings).
I know to many, the DT 1990 Pro isnāt an āendgameā pair, but to a non-audiophile like me, this is as TOTL as it gets for me! Just wanted to say thanks to you guys in this forum for helping me reach my decision
P.S. Iām pairing this badboy with a Schiit Stack (Heresy / Modi) so hopefully itāll be more than enough power!
heresy and modi are just fine but I would encourage a future upgrade to the asgard 3 and modius at some point in the future. If for just gaming it does help with the spatial recreation if anythingā¦ but it really isnāt particularly necessary lol. As for gamingā¦ I see more people preferring the T1 rather than the 1990, more than likely due to just how aggressive the 1990 can be, but I would say it can absolutely be an endgame can for the fps gamerā¦ only a small handful of others that go head to head with the 1990 in its price bracket least till you reach likeā¦ hell $800+ brackets then you start getting a bit more headway but in games its quite marginal. For music though, probably more in line with a persons preferenceā¦ not everyone likes that much treble lol
Welp the DT 1990 Pro headphones came in (I got them used from the official Beyer reverb store) and they look absolutely FLAWLESS. How are these just in EXCELLENT condition?? They look brand new.
But I just wanted to say also, my god, these feel so damn premium. Personally, I love that they have a lil āheftā to it.
Anyhow, I swapped the pads out to the Analytical ones and it sounds glorious and I am thoroughly enjoying them
And thx @Falenkor for the suggestion! Will have to jump on the asgard 3 down the line for sure!
I start having terrible headaches from them. I got dekoni pads and nugets. Clamp is so strong that i get litteraly pain for hours. I put them om books to lessen clamp still didnāt help. Also i find punchy bass so strong that some songs are painfull to listen to. I try eq but it doesnāt help much.
I hope clamp losen up with time but as of right now they are the most uncomfortable headphones i ever had and saying otherwise by people that listen them for less than hour i find straight out bs.
Has anyone had a single driver begin to rattle?
In my 1990s, I found they began to rattle in the right cup at the 25-55 Hz range. I disassembled and the rattling continues the same, so itās not to do with the housing or headband connection. I also applied some gasket goo to the small PCB at the driver where the wires connect, thinking maybe it was a loose connection, but there was no change. Holding that part and applying varying pressure with fingers during audio test yields no changes. Various vigorous flicking of the driver does nothing.
I contacted Beyherdynamic requesting the price of a replacement driver, and am waiting for a reply.
If anyone knows how much they go for that would be appreciated.
So just to check, did you check to see if there was a hair on the diaphragm? It might sound dumb, but sometimes a hair gets stuck touching the driver and causes a rattle near that range on beyers. If you find one you can use a pair of like plastic tweezers to try and remove it. Sometimes it gets stuck enough were flicking or tapping on it doesnāt solve it
I checked just now and did not see any. Unless there is one that got wedged within somehow. Iād need to get a magnifying glass to really check, but it seems pretty unlikely.
I got an email back from Beyerdynamic, and they say the drivers are sold as matched pairs which can be ordered through their service center for $192. Does that seem a reasonable price? I feel like Iām at a crossroads - should I put the money towards another set, or commit to a repair for 1/3 of the cost of the unit?
Unless I can find a busted pair someoneās selling for pennies to the dollar, to gamble with swapping a driver from that.
Guys i have ASUS STX II soundcard for few years now. It have build in amp which takes power from molex cable in pc. It sounds nice but now my father asked me if i give him my soundcard and buy myselff something better.
I can spend next month +/- 300$ but i want something that improve over what i have. I donāt need 10 connectors just one for headphones. Game/music.
I was wondering about shiit hel2 , evga audio soundcard, creative ae 9 soundcard, mayflower arc mk 2. I even look at jbs labs element 2 but itās expensive and iām not sure would it be much improvement over other things on this list.
