đŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic DT880 600Ω

Well I have a100 for my 880s, Dekoni Blues, and future T60RPs, but in a perfect world I could sell it and my SP200, and just have the A90- so I guess if you’ve heard any of those headphones with the BassX what your thoughts are compared to the A90

I think the basx is pretty dynamic and punchy, also warmer smoother, but imo a bit unrefined as a headphone amp, not as detailed and kinda sloppy at times. I kinda prefer the asgard 3 over the basx a100 for the 880 and the t60rp (I haven’t heard the blues on the asgard 3 yet). Honestly the asgard 3 is also my preference over the a90 for the most part for the headphones you have

@Chifiguy @M0N Agree with M0N on this, I haven’t unhooked my Dekoni Blues from my Asgard 3 in like a month, and I would definitely say it is a fantastic pairing, at least for my sound preferences. Gives it a lot of warmth for the lows/mids but the highs still sound pretty nice and detailed. It also has more than enough to power it. Right now I am on high gain and like 10pm on the dial. After 12 o’clock it is probably too loud in terms of damaging your hearing.

Is it weird that I prefer these over my DT1990 PRO with analytical pads? They seem to be more spacious and clear sounding. Bass response isnt as good or tight as the 1990 but to my ears I prefer these. Running them off a Topping A90 single ended and they are just fantastic.

I reccomend a tube amp or asgard3 with these and not so much the basX a100. The dark voice and a3 sound pretty great. The a3 is more versatile and any headphones/iem I’ve used on them sound great. The basx is still great imo and you can use speakers with them. But so far i only like planars on it with the jumpers.

I kinda wish they made a beefed up 880 600 ohm cause the 1990 is def not that. Always waiting for an 1880 beyer lol

The 1990 are a good sounding headphone in their own right and I when I initially bought them I thought they’d be (with the analytical pads at least) a super DT880
Now that my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to actually try the DT880 and spent some time with them I come to find that they are actually quite different headphones. Curious to see what the T1 sounds like now but it seems that a lot of people seem to prefer the 1990 over those
an 1880 would be nice but I’d be concerned with Beyerdynamic potentially butchering the tonality because I really like these.

Yea I am in the same boat here. Used to reach for the 1990s a lot before buying the DT 880. But since I bought the Asgard 3 (and now a Dark Voice) I find myself reaching for these headphones a whole lot more. Also what is interesting is that I also own the HD800s and it is weird how close these can both sound. I mean there is a little more sound stage with the HD800s, but to me they seem rather close in the overall sound.

I just got these today without getting into sound these are pretty uncomfortable for me. The pads are pushing onto the top of my ears and my earlobes. Hopefully it gets better once the pads start to break in; I guess I have big ass ears. :joy:

So you’d more say keep the SP200 and swap the BassX for Schiit?

I think if your not powering speakers, I prefer the Asgard 3 to the basx (imo I also prefer the Asgard to the sp200 but that’s just me)

Haha yeah, from what I’ve seen on here you and the Asgard are soulmates. That doesn’t mean I value your opinion any less, I’m just saying :stuck_out_tongue:

It is pretty great, although I have other amps that I like just as much lol. Mainly stronger feelings against thx rather than stronger feelings for the Asgard lol

Guess it depends what you like. I love the cleanliness and how sterile and clean the SP200 is. It’s so, honest? in a way. For $200, though, why not? I mean I’m up in Canada so that’s gonna be $280 in monopoly money plus $10 for Canada Post handling fee plus any duties they decide to levy plus 13% sales tax (landed, my BassX cost more than my SP200 was when it first came out, the irony, I know)

I would disagree but I’m not going to get into that lol

Some of the Canadian prices and availability can be pretty strange at times from what I have seen

I also fall into this category

but you won’t get this from the asgard 3
could be a nice complimentary piece though

it is significant
 can’t remember the exact amount

Me too. I sold the SP200 to get the A3. Absolutely no regrets.

I was thinking about the Sp200 very much since i cannot get the Asgard 3 in germany but decided to get the Lake People G109 if i can find one.
Hope its the right decision. But i guess it is.
Maybe, there will be the holy mail from Schiit europe that they have restock for the Asgard. But i highly doubt it

Pretty solid. Also I think an arcam rhead is a good alternative to the Asgard if you can find one used, but the lake people amps are pretty quality, def a good pick. Schiit is shitting the bed for their Europe stuff at the moment lol
