Good call on pairing the T1 with the Liquid Platinum with balance.
Powers it up, warms it up and gives you a little more space.
Think Iām good for a while.

Anyone have some good pad swap recommendations for the T1.2? Potentially some frequency response graphs to go with it to show how it effects the headphone? Wanting to see if I can potentially even out the frequencies more like the 1990 does with itās analytical or Dekoni Elite velours since I like the more relaxed presentation of the T1.2 a bit more than the extremely surgical 1990
I have hybrid Dekoni pads and im getting my pair on Monday. I also got a few zmf pads that I could try out with them. I imagine Iāll like the stock signature the most though.
Have you tried the edt 990vb? I remember reading an old forum, about how they change the sound and make them sound closer to the T1.1st gen.
No I have not. Though I have heard the same remarks for those pads as well as the original T1 gen 1 pads. The original T1 if I recall correctly had a frequency with a bass just barily above neutral and a bright treble so a more neutral bright sound signature. Probably one of the reasons I was constantly told the try the T1 and was told it was a major upgrade to the 880s. Gen 2 is a pretty large V shape in comparison. I will have to sit down and figure it up when I get some time with it. I have the pads just havenāt bothered with it.
@Alfredo3001 Interestingly enough I donāt see any data or spec codes for the T1 pads they arenāt even on beyers store. I sent them an email inquiry asking about the pads and if they had alternative recommendations as well.
Would appreciate hearing your thoughts on the pad swaps. Donāt own the hybrids or zmf pads myself.
I did my research a few months ago. I read that the t1.1st gen used the edt 990 vd and the t1.2nd used the same dt1990 pads ( I donāt remember which one Analytical or balanced)
Just got my t1. They use the balanced pads from the 1990 so I believe the gray pads would work well with the t1.
I used to own 1990 I know the difference. When I get home Iāll take a pic for you
Btw I got the black āninjaā version they might be different to the reg version
By all means. Curious if you have different pads. You should have the same pads as me on the T1. I own both headphones. The pads are different.
Said to just be aesthetic.
The reason I consider the T1 is I like itās sound quite a bit moreā¦ its not as cold and analytical in comparison with what sounds to be wider staging and quite relaxed. I just want more versatility in case I wanna change up the signature a bit
They do sound a bit bassy. Iām definitely gonna order the gray pads I think the gray would look good on them and probably add clarity
hmm, interestingā¦ so it is the balanced pads after allā¦ I need to sit down and try the analytical, tygrs, and dekoni elite velours on them see what happens. I should have my T1 back in a bout a week had to send it in
Edit: Sat down and studied the frequencies a bit with 1990 in comparison to the T1.2. So theoretically changing to the Analytical pads should essentially have the same effect in the bass as well as dekoni elite velour. The real main differences here is that the 1990 has a pretty heavy downslope in the 5k region that raises back up of the treble and that the balanced pads low bass frequency is elevated more on the 1990 than it is the T1.2 as for mids T1.2 has just high elevated mids in comparison. T1.2 having the wider soundstage due to the angle of the drivers and more relaxed presentation vs the more aggressively intimate large soundstage of the 1990 with straighter drivers
Theoretically they should perform the same as well with the Dekoni Elite velours. one of the biggest complaints people have with dekoni elite velour on the 1990 is that it ācreates sibilanceā I dont have thatā¦ I can see you getting that with a amp/dac that is just bad for bright headphones though
I think mine might be faulty. Anytime a heavy bass note hits it starts distorting. I just sent an email to Beyerdynamic customer support. Weāll see what they say.
Sure you got enough power behind it? Gen 2 is 600 ohms and demanding for power.
Powered by the Asgard 3
My 880 600ohm and 1990 didnāt have this issue
I hope they donāt tell me to buy one of their amps lol
That definitely sounds faulty then. Mine had some weird buzz on the highs kind of like a potential blown speaker sound or something. Had to contact them they said it was faulty so I sent mine in.
I wonder if there was a bad batch of t1 drivers
