šŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic T1 Gen3

sounds like temptation to me lmao. One of those, ā€œI donā€™t need it but I need itā€ moments.

I just canā€™t get behind buying that headphone. Itā€™s up there in price and rather a bit fatiguing it sounds beautiful and all that but I just couldnā€™t justify it over my T1 2nd gen honestly. The real big difference I seen was in the mids and soundstage but I just liked the sound of the 2nd gen a lot more over the HD800S. Considering the new 3rd gen here is fully open back I wonder if it now has competing sound stage as that would be something.

This looks really interesting to me. I tried the first Gen T1 years ago, they were simply way too bright for me and my tastes coming from the Sennheiser HD650. But people describing the T1 Gen 3 as warmer and less peaky in the treble has my attention. I was considering the DT1990 a while ago, but I will wait for more reviews.

Yea the HD800s is the most expensive headphone I had purchase. But still got it for 1k open-box. So not too bad. Figured I can probably just turn around and sell it for that same price, depending on what I think about the new T1. Because I have come to enjoy headphones like the Tygr, Sivga Phoenix, and the Nighthawks. Which are more on the warmer side and a bit more relaxed where you can just enjoy the music.

Honestly, not a fan of the first generation of T1, I tried that as well as people told me it was a seperate signature. Bright, slightly sibilant, little bit boring in my opinion. T1.2 is a lot better on lows and mids and the highs sound better to meā€¦ T1.3 is interesting for sure with people stating it has less treble I just hope its not neutral or slightly dark like the tygrsā€¦ I want some brightness at the very least.

That one is very aggressive and peaky so you may not like the 1990 honestly.

well yeah that isnā€™t bad.

I havenā€™t bothered to really give this much of a thought after people keep saying its similar to the Sendy Aiva which I honestly did not like outside of the design and comfort.

This is what I am expecting with gen3 honestlyā€¦ a tuning that just lets you lay back and enjoy the music and not be so clinical or over the top bright. Sounds like the bass is increased but the mids are present still like the 2nd genā€¦ fully open back and the treble was reducedā€¦ least what I have read and heard so farā€¦ Though I will take all that with a grain of salt until I try it myself.

I also own the Sendy Avia and these are both different. The Sivga Phoenix is more like the Tygr 300, but slightly better. Not leaps and bounds, but just a tad. But I would not recommend it to ya @Falenkor since they have really small ear-cups and from what I read on some headphones you have tried, small ear-cups will not work for you. I myself am a bit lucky in that department.

I like Beyerdynamic headphones, but their customer service in NA is not good. I had a few problems with Beyerdynamic NA. They cancel my online order two times from their official web page before the Covid-19. They take a long time to ship items. They take a long time to answer emails or donā€™t answer at all.

The moment I read you stating it better than tygr I was about to go look this up and then you killed it with this. Depends on the size of padsā€¦ if its 100mm or larger I can use the pad but it also depends on design like if its angled padsā€¦ honestly, aivas comfort and pads were incredible and soft I really appreciated thatā€¦ I just hated the sound

-waiting on alfredo to finish typing as I have a feeling hes going to say something to me lol-

@Alfredo3001 I think itā€™s just hit or missā€¦ Sometimes I have had good customer service when I had technical questions or remarks on pads or replacement partsā€¦ other times when you want to special order tygr or just order support they are blatantly awfulā€¦ I think they could do well to really fix that customer service of theirsā€¦ they make amazing product but customer support is a bit of an issue for them.

Yea the drivers for the Phoenix are only 50mm. I do find the pads to be comfortable. I have read that a few took the pads off and rotated them to increase comfort due to having larger ears, but taking the pads off can be difficult to do as well. Takes some force. Mind you I have not tried but havenā€™t really needed to either.

@Rick_Jones

Can you compare the soundstage and imaging to 800s when you get yours please. If its bigger than gen2 that would be nice.

Sure, will do

I have no urge on the T1 Gen 3 (thinking about a gen 2 just for tube amps though), but I do wonder about the T5 Gen 3. I loved the T5 Gen 2, but it was just too damn bright. I had to use a Schiit Loki to tame it. If they took that, chopped off some treble and added some bass, the T5 Gen 3 could easily be my go-to closed back headphones.

Like staring into the sun and having a shot of burning liquor except the burning is in your ear drums and not the throat lol.

From what I have heard it does sound like this may be the case of the new T5P which I think will be much more appreciated all considering. Not sure who in the world walked around with the gen 2 T5P as their portable headphoneā€¦ that brightness was a bit beyond fatiguing in my opinion.

Received a confirmation that everything from beyerdynamic will be in wednesday except the t1 gen 3ā€¦ lol but why though? like 2 day shipping yet everything else shipped first. The hells the point in paying $30 extra then

Yea on the site it says give them 48 hours due to high demand. And then another few days to get to itā€™s destination.

I guess as long as it ships out tomorrow I can be alright with thatā€¦ but I mean, I ordered hellā€¦ some extra pads, soul byrd, tygrs, and a new headband piece and they all shipped before the T1. Not sure I can buy ā€œhigh demandā€ considering I donā€™t see a lot of people jumping up and down to spend a grand right now during the covid crisis

Yea its probably more to do with covid and lack of staff most likely.

Thatā€™s more than likely yeah. Unfortunate. Welp, the waiting game it is

Got confirmation email that the package should be in Friday. If I need to order from them again, I will never use their alternative shipping methods. No point in 2 day shipping if it takes 5 days to arrive cause they want to delay 3 days shipping. I emailed them asking about it Monday since there was a confirmation email on everything else except the 3rd gen. Still havenā€™t heard anything back probably wonā€™t from the looks of it.
