Actually yea they can break down into individual lions just like the actual toy. It is pretty cool
Is it lego? Im EU but would consider paying for shipping as that was one of my childhood jams for cartoons. Voltron and Robotechā¦sorry for derailing the threadā¦
OHā¦FUCK ā¦YEAHā¦there goes part of my summer bonus.
Update: some dude in the UK just sold me one for 80 bucksā¦summer bonus saved!
thought you said you got the Tygr for 80 bucks for a second
Finished a project tonight. Here are my Beyerdynamic TYGR 300R headphones with the detachable cable mod. Followed Demevalosā guide.
Just got my TYGR today. Initial listening and I am very impressed. It is a warmer headphone than my DT880 250 ohm (black edition) for sure, but doesnāt have an overwhelming amount of bass (like my DT990 Pro). There is a hint of the usual Beyerdynamic killer highs, but you really have to listen for it. I can hear a little bit of sibilance in āsā sounds, but nothing that makes me cringe in discomfort. The mids are somewhat recessed but I perceive it to be more present than my DT880. I found the sound signature of these headphones to be quite pleasing even without any EQ. Imaging is spot on, though I perceive slightly wider soundstage than the DT880 (or even the DT990 Pro).
I also find it very interesting that certain details are easier to pick out on the TYGR. For example there is a song Stairway Generation by Base Ball Bear. The intro has guitar sounds which pans from right to left and back to right. I find the guitar sounds stand out like crazy on the TYGR (in a pleasing way) and it is easier to pick out where the sounds are coming from. I canāt wait to try this out on my go-to FPS game, Splatoon 2.
I feel like my DT880 does cleaner and slightly punchier bass and is more āneutralā due to it having less bass. However, I am glad I now have a āfunā headphone which isnāt as offensive to listen to as my DT990 Pro. This headphone is a keeper for sure, and Iām glad I bought it! Will be testing it out more and will update if I have more feedback.
Edit to add: Comfort is good, but I have mixed feelings when I compare to my DT880. TYGR has less clamp than DT990 Pro but DT880 has even less clamp (which I prefer). So, my DT880 is still my favourite headphone in terms of comfort. However, the DT880 lacks padding on the headband, while the TYGR has more padding. itās a tradeoff, I guess. Hopefully the clamp on my TYGR loosens.
I went back and forth on this too. The clamp will obviously work itself out through regular wear. It may not make a difference to many, but as a bald guy, I really like the TYGRās paddier pleather headband. The velvet (?) covering on the 880 headband is nice, but itās not as soft and I like the ācoolerā feel of the pleather on top of my head. Honestly, the only thing I donāt like about the TYGRs are the branding. Really wish I could have the external looks of the black or chrome 880s for the TYGR. I may have to take a sharpie to the āyā logoā¦
Alright so, no joke Aune stack(in this case x7s + x8) sounds amazing on this headphone. Treble becomes neutral with an ever so slight sharpness and sparkle to it. Sounds a bit more detailed and more mid forward. Bass is still there but sounds just a bit tighter. This pairing seems really good for this headphone and in my opinion better than the Atom and Magni in this case.
Just donāt try this stack with the 990s or 1990 it becomes pretty sibilant. Pretty sure this will sound better if you balance your tygrā¦ hmmā¦ perhaps the X1S aune since its an amp/dac would be a solid choice on this for a gamer. Edit: seeing how I also have the x1s in house with me right now just sat with itā¦ yeah its not as clean than the x7s + x8 thats for certain and is probably due to higher grade setup and that dac is better but in this case you gain the optical port for consoles I think this would a solid recommendation from me that the X1S amp dac would be good for a gamer on a budget who wants to use the Tygr 300 R as their regular go-to headset less you want that darker sound behind it.
hi, the tygr are available now on the beyer site, i need to know if beyerdynamic meet shipping times because i need them before September 2
Can confirm that they seem to meet shipping times. Ordered mine yesterday morning and got tracking info the same day. Expected to arrive via UPS this Tuesday. Pretty excited
Thanks for your review Falenkor. Mine arrived today, so I have only some early impressions. I also have an X2HR to compare them with. So far, I pretty much agree with almost everything you said.
But unfortunately I completely disagree about comfort, I find my X2HR a whole lot more comfortable, they feel lighter because of the bridge design (I donāt know how itās called), with the tygrs I feel the headband push on the top of my head which is a bit annoying, despite it being a pretty nice cushion. Itās also not as wide as on the X2HR, so the forces are less distributed.
But more worse, is that the ear pads are a lot more shallow, I donā t find it easy to wear them for longer periods due to the rubbing against my ears . The X2HR I can easily wear the whole day.
I donāt think I have big ears or a big head or anything, so Iām a bit puzzled why I experience this discomfort, that I donāt see in any of other comments here. Ah well letās hope I get used to it, I do like the sound!
Fwiw I got them from B stock from the european Beyerdynamic site, just eur 121 and looks good as new. Shipping and everything went pretty smoothly.
Maybe try stretching them out a bit? I put mine over several books for a few hours and that helped with the clamp discomfort. But also, I think a lot of this is just personal preference. Iāve used both, and I find the TYGR much more comfortable than the X2HR. I find suspension-type designs more uncomfortable than comfortable (though the Nighthawks are an exception to that for me). Iām a big guy too, but yeah, the headband and pad openings are plenty big for me. To each his own, I guess.
Do you know if these would be a good pair with the Fulla 3?
Hmm, I can see what you mean by the headphones not being as wide however stretching out the headphone a bit(you can just use the box and leave it stretched for a couple days) will release any tension and make it feel even lighter.
hmm, so your ears may actually be larger than mine. You can always pick up some larger pads for the unit if desired or thickerā¦ any pad that fits on the 770/880/990 fits the tygr just fine. Dekoni Elite velour might suit you right as it makes it quite a bit deeper without ruining the sound to my experience well that or the suede but I feel the suede makes it a bit too bassy.
That headphone not only has massive ear pads but has like no clamp force out of the box. Itās a bit more clamping than the shp9500 which to my experience practically falls off my head(one of the negatives I have about the shp9500).
Ah, well I would first like I said try stretching it a bit, it does take some time to break in and the pads will get softer with use. The clamping force on the headphone will definitely get lighter if stretched or used for a couple months and again you can always change the pads out to something you prefer a bit more. I have personal custom velours I switch out on some of my headphones when I want a thicker pad but the main issue with this is that the Tygr has a very particular pad design so changing the pad will definitely change the sound up.
Really wish I could get prices like that here in the USA thatās really cheap.
Just now saw you made this remark lol +1
I think using something that is about the width of your head is bestā¦ in my case the box is a perfect optionā¦
I mean, thatās rather unfair I havenāt tried a better head strap lol audioquest did right by that design and build quality.
Yes, pairs just fine. Granted I would say there are better options so far after tested amps back and forth but I think the fulla would be a very solid pick for the tygrs
Thanks guys, Iāll see if a little bit of stretching and break-in helps. The idea of stretching always scares me little because itās irreversible, I guess, so Iāll be careful. Iāll keep that ear-pad suggestion in mind just in case.
Which ones are the better options? And thanks for the response.
Hmm, if your looking for a budget combo unit than I canāt particularly think of a better one as schiit fulla compliments it pretty well. It would depend on what style signature your looking for. Something that can liven it up with itās mids and brighten the highs a bit more will make it more neutral. Otherwise your fine with pretty much whatever as tygrs arenāt particularly picky as long as your not using a warmer amp. Schiit tends to be more colored so I think they pair well with beyers in general least from my experience. Two of the amps I noticed that I really enjoyed the sound for the tygrs would definitely be the Aune X1S amp/dac as it really smoothed the highs over and brightened them it sounded very neutral with an ever so slight peak very enjoyable while keeping that tightened up bass impact the other was definitely JDS Atom it gave it a slight edge but a very good neutral clean sound again keeping the warmth to the headphone.
If were talking only in the $100 I actually just asked @M0N about this as I plan to set up my little nephew with my tygrs and trying to locate a proper amp/dac combo unit for him. Though I am definitely thinking the fulla is probably the best bet in that price margin.
If were talking consoles however, probably soundblasters G6 if you can get it cheap otherwise you need a dac with a optical port.
