I am really interested in a pair but I just donât think I can justify it since I already have a 177X GO. I will keep an eye out for any used pairs or sales though.
not really all that comparable as they have seperate signatures and are closed back vs open back. Pretty much completely different headphones.
They did go on sale around the time I first picked up my pair but only for like $20 off. Finding a used pair though seems rather rare, I think I have seen them sold used maybe one time so far.
Though I suppose itâs up to you in the long run.
Edit: I guess I should add it will probably depend on location for used though⊠seen a few comment from the EU that beyer sells b stock tygrs over there for much cheaper than we can get here in the USA which is quite unfortunate that we donât have that same luxury.

I more meant for my wallet, haha. But I really could use a pair of open backs. But yeah Iâm here in the USA.
I really canât understand why Beyer doesnât employ a detachable cable, thatâs another put off for me. I know it can be modded, though.
To my knowledge and experience with their brand so far it would appear they reserve their detachable cables for their expensive headphones but not the cheap headphones⊠which honestly, is very annoying.
lol understandable, I try to save money whenever I can as this hobby loves to light your wallet on fire. Well, 177x GO are quite nice for what they are⊠Large soundstage despite closed back, great imaging(not as good), and has a U shape signature or what I call a more subtle V signature as itâs closer to neutral(much more refined and balanced out than the original 1770s). I no longer own that headphone after I switched it out for my Aeons but it was nice for a while. I wouldnât particularly say you need the tygr if you find a lot of enjoyment out of 177x honestly⊠it would just be a somewhat different signature as they both are pretty close to neutrality⊠youâd pretty much just be buying a headphone without the 177x Goâs treble peak, much more soundstage, and much better imaging. I would tell you pick up the nighthawks or a bright headphone instead if you really wanted a good complimenting headphone with a seperate signature for more variety.

Trigger has been pulled for me on the T1 3rd generation courtesy of my best friend I have known since childhood. Going to be very interesting to see how it compares to the Tygr and T1 2nd generation. It should be in this week.

So I received my TYGR 300Râs yesterday. Iâve been using them for some hours now and I somehow they donât sound⊠right. The only comparison material I have is my Dali Zensor 5.0 set, my XM3âs and my old Steelseries 5Hv2 which I use for gaming. I am driving my TYGRâs with a Tomahawk B450 MAX which is using a Realtek ALC892. I also tried the old USB sound card that came with the the Steelseries, with the USB sound card the TYGRâs get way louder (like 25% volume sounds as loud as 100% volume via the IO of my motherboard). The TYGRâs seem to sound a bit muffled and are lacking clarity. Would a AMP/DAC make a difference here? Worth noting: I bought these as b-stock straight from Beyerdynamic. Maybe I just need to get used to the sound, but I wanted to post my thoughts about it here.

If such a cheap sound card is having that much effect it means your motherboard isnât cutting it. Cheap sound cards tend to destroy sound more than correctly driving something. Pretty sure I have said this a few times now but to explain here, the tygr will appear quite muffled and even lose a lot of bass and clarity if itâs not properly driven. It is however a warm headphone with some dark tones to it which may appear odd to those used to gaming headsets as gaming headsets are either neutral or have their treble raised in most cases as brightness aka treble helps with competitive gaming.
Mental burn in is indeed a thing and takes time to adjust to. The headphones also take some time to acclimate and burn in. However, an amp and dac will always help in terms of sound quality over onboard audio.
I would recommend finding an amp/dac with a return policy to check out. It could very well be that you personally arenât a fan of the signature as well. We all have our own tastes in sound and preferences we hear things differently. Grab something cheap like an fx-audio dac-x6 or Fiio e10k if your on a budget⊠soundblaster g6 or x3 work as well as ifi zen dac works well. If your just planning a proper investment put $200 towards your amp and dac and pick up one of the $100 amps such as magni 3+, Magni Heresy, JDS Atom, Monoprice Liquid Spark, or Archel+Enog(amp and dac but great together but these are more expnesive than $200). Dacs you can run with a combo unit at first or your onboard audios dac if you prefer but you will gain cleaner sound from a dedicated dac. JDS has their own dac but I tend to recommend Topping as they pair quite well and do a great job so D10 would be my recomendation there

Of course, glad I could help a bit. If it still doesnât work out for you try to pin point what it is you feel could be improved⊠I am sure there is a great alternative that will suit you just fine within the same price range as the Tygr. Tygrs just have exceptional imaging and soundstage alternatives wonât have that but still will be able to do the job just fine(such as akg k712 over there or k7xx which I prefer a bit more than the k712). It took me a bit of time to acclimate to darker signatures after coming from gaming headsets especially since I found out I am a huge fan of bright sounding headphones. It took me close to a month to get used to Dark sounding headphones after I bought my nighthawk carbons which are extremely dark. Tygrs are bassy yet slightly neutral dark in sound signature itâs not a very common sound honestly for a gamer considering all the signatures you tend to get from the gaming headset market
If your on pc though and get an amp. Pick up PEACE APO(itâs free but two downloads) itâs an equalizer takes a slight bit of setup but make sure its configured to the amp/dac unit. This will let you tinker with tygrs sound signature and can help you pinpoint what it is you find more ideal in signature.

So I got myself an AMP/DAC combo, the FiiO K3. The TYGRâs sound way better this way compared to using them with my Tomahawk B450 Max. The clarity improved a lot and the bass is less muddy.
Iâve been using them for a few hours a day and I got used a lot more to the sound. They sound a lot more like I expected in the beginning, like Beyerdynamics are supposed to sound. When I switch back to my old Steelseries 5Hv2 they sound terrible, they sound so fucking bright.
yeah, figured it was a case of needing an amp for it. Glad it was resolved, Granted I would have probably said to pick up the E10K instead as it doesnât have the balanced port, is cheaper, and has more power behind it. Less you get a balanced cable for a headphone that can actually be balanced, that particular amp definitely wonât be very strong. Highly recommend an upgrade down the road.
yeah, you will definitely get that with gaming headsets due to their ignorant tunings. Most gaming headsets will have quite a bit on the brightness to help be more viable in competitive gameplay but it generally sounds awful.

He is wrong on the pads. Those pads are the â990 VBâ from the DT 990 they also soften more with time they are built to be more firm out the gate. Best headband? Maybe actually I didnât really think about that. Then again T1.2 and Amiron Home have some amazing headbands.
Granted I took off my filters on my tygr and it becomes very bright. Just a 990 in disguise.

Yea I knew that he got it wrong on the pads. But was cool that he mentions using the DT 880 silver pads if folks would like an option. Personally I am good with the current pad on them. Really donât see the need to change them out.
for the tygrs in particular I would say really depends on if you leave the filters on them. If you take the filters out it becomes quite bright so I switched them out to dekoni suedes⊠quite lovely honestly in that regard. Only for those who can appreciate the brighter sound. That filter keeps the beyers from murdering your ears lol. I do really like the tygrs stock pads too though, canât really see changing them if the filters are on as everything else just sounds bad or boomy

However, I have to send my most recent tygr 300r back because the drivers are rattling and distorting badly at medium levels of volume.
Oh man that sucks. Maybe things are slipping a bit with them trying to meet the high demand for the headphone.
2nd time I got a beyerdynamic headphone with the rattling issue. Last time was the 1770s. I would have been furious if the T1 3rd gen had that issue.
