đŸ”¶ Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R

General differences between the two.

Open vs closed is always noticeable.

Just got the tygr’s straight from beyer, b-stock for £108 and for that price my ears have never been more enamoured

I’m running an eq close to harman right now and I’m torn between them and the 650’s, but they still can’t come close to matching the midrange & treble resolution of the latter. Bass definition is much better on the tygr when you remove some of the upper bass flab, and staging is vastly improved as well to no ones surprise. Superb cans!

If you like them, try the 600ohm 990s. They improve on every aspect you like about the Tygr

Beyers just aren’t superb for mids. Like 880 and t1 are lovely but imo cannot best sennheiser. Tygr aren’t the best for treble and air, if you want that switch to 880 or 990(990 is insanely v sharp though)

Glad to hear you enjoy them though!

Thanks! I’m still going through AB-ing the 650’s and the TYGR’s, slipped this beaut on and was instantly slapped by the brilliance of the 650s midrange. The tygr gets annihilated in this piece:

Hate to say it but the 650’s have way more detail in the mids even when equalized to parity, hopefully the 990 600 are a bit better in this regard but I never run a pair of cans without eq so a ‘bright’ headphone is never usually an issue for me unless it’s an inherent flaw with the driver. I would honestly die if I ran the 990’s without any eq lmao

Still love the tygr’s!

Never EQd before, got a program you prefer that can work with a streaming service like amazon hd

Nooo no, 990s have more recession on the mids
tygr is a modified 990. If you love mids just grab the 880 and eq up the bass so you get the more harman curve

Agreed that the 650s have gorgeous mids though
I wish beyer had that more on its lineup. They love there v signatures

I barely eq my headphones. I prefer to have the headphones natural sound starting out
if I keep them though I will tinker with it.

I mean, I just use peace apo cause it’s free PC software but there are alternative. Got a loki in house too which is awesome

Yea I want a Loki bad, way better then having to sit in front of my computer

The thing is though, the 880s use heavy front wave damping to quell a chunk of the upper frequencies and bass so I don’t know if I’d be missing out on dat midrange definition
A relative lack of soundstage depth and imaging is a tell tale sign of the effects of front damping and I’ve seen people say those are the few areas the 990 improve over the 880 so going with the 990 600 and ‘fixing’ it post eq may be a better bet for me personally.

Hmm, you got a point. Agreed that 990 may be better in that regard.

Works well
cant eq it like I can on peace but its surprisingly useful

Hey man, so my wife wants me to get the open ones so I can’t ignore my children screaming.

The mic on the MXX was meant to be pretty superb, any attachable mics that can hit the quality of the MXX or the penrose?

Mod mic would work

Modmic or one of the many dedicated streamer mics if that’s more your thing

Does the modmic “do the job” or is it a pretty good attachable mic?

Subjective. Passable. Better than most headset mics. Uni is rather bad imo

I was thinking the newish USB modmic with omni. Is there another brand that does it better?

In its own market by itself. Other alternatives need a detachable cable, of which tygr uses an attached cable

So I returned my dt 770 pro after 8 months because they were incredibly uncomfortable. Its safe to say I’m in the market for new headphones around 150/200$ range as someone who works in my house and spends all day by the computer I really need something thats comfy but also sounds nice with music and games. Sadly I live in Poland so TYGR is not in line of sight just yet (no shipping and none in stock), what would be good recommendation for me? I tried hd599 and they were ok but I hated how cheap the felt on my head. Open back no amp/dac. Just gaming and casual music listening.

fidelio x2hr?

how are they with long time use? I wear my headphones for +12 hours a day
