You’re worried about QC on a $30 IEM? I mean, do you like bass or detail then make a decision from there (if this is actually a thing, which I highly doubt). I have the “gunmetal” version and they are bass canons, but the mids and highs are outstanding at this price range that you can forgive the boomyness (I EQ everything, so dat bass is not a concern for me). I used spiral dots to calm the bass, but currently using knockoff Comply T200’s because they fit the best and you don’t need the o-ring. Also, all of those companies that you listed are pretty much all the same, so purchase from the one selling it the cheapest. They’re $24 on AliExpress if you don’t mind waiting.
Also have gunmetal and the bass is really great. They are boomy but unlike a lot of ieams this price range aren’t v shaped with highs that kill you
Well 30 dollars is alot. Maybe he just wants to make sure that he chooses the correct one
Ok where did you get the ‘gunmetal’ version from as Linsoul themselves state that the 03’s come in silver and brown?
It’s what the linsould people call the Browns to seem cooler and what people on headfi who saw the issue was calling them. I have the Browns which I bought from massdrop
Thanks for all your help guys!
It is true that $30 is a actually a fair bit of money for me (still finishing high school).
I think what I can probably do is try both sets if I use different tips, and then just go from there. Usually, I like a lot of bass for fun listening, but at the same time I love overall detail and treble. My family has Amazon prime so returns would be easy on there.
I feel like too many people get so invested in this(and wrapped up in their own standards and budgets) that they forget that not everyone can afford the stuff that’s even $100.
Lol very true. I got my Nighthawk Carbon headphones and my DAP as gifts for Christmas. Would have never been able to afford them at the time.
why personally sso fixated on cheap shit I feel like we really don’t have enough coverage in the ultra budget stuff. and people’s defnmitions of what a “budget product” is is super warped no matter what hobby you go to, statues’ figures, watches, sneakers, alkl ridiculous on how warped they can be
Most CHEAP shit is just that. Cheap shit. There’s not as much coverage on this part of the market segment BECAUSE there is so much that’s cheap and absolute shit, whereas there’s not much in comparison that’s actually good. Besides, everyone likes looking at the super expensive stuff. It’s like everyone looks at the Tesla Model 3 vs a Nissan Leaf.
I agree “budget” is a subjective term, though it typically refers to the product that cost a fraction of what others do. I would call a Athlon 3000G a budget product, but i wouldn’t call a R5 3600 the same thing. At least not for a gaming computer or anything that isn’t handling a strong professional workload.
yes but its getting through the all the shit and getting to the gems. like mh 755’s ksc 75’s its all about finding the exceptions and covering those.
That’s the point. You have to actually hunt for them. It’s something you don’t have to do for the higher end stuff.
sure but expensive stuff is expensive and if I can help highschoolers and college students find great gear for the small budgets I am willing to go though a ton of shit to find the good. I was just that guy a couple years back
higher end stuff also present a risk where you can drop a ton of money only to find out your not into it. tastes are a thing . if I dropped my $200 on the 6xx over my 990 for my purposes I would have hated myself personally cause one. Im not into the sound signature and 2 it sucks for gaming which was my main purpose at the time of purchase
buyt If I spent $80 on the shps 9500’s instead and found out I hated the sound signature I wouldn’t mind too muchh cause its cheaper
I’m slowly getting up to good shit now. I’m just past that point. I understand there are rather expensive hobbies. Mine are: audio, custom computer hardware, wood carving, RC vehicles, and model building. They can all get rather expensive. It’s just harder to find good stuff with the really cheap audio equipment. $80 is still out of some people’s budget. Some people don’t have friends, or know people that are already into audio equipment, or have somewhere accessible to them to be able to try out something new.
What I was trying to point out is that there are people in each different group of hobbiest/enthusiasts that forget about or ignore the super budget products.
lol I’m also into custom PC’s I’m my friend group’s dedicated PC guy I do all building and and first time setups and upgrades and fixes for everyone. ironically though I have the worst ppc in the group. It’s not by any means bad just everyone else has higher end gear than me. Im also in multiple hobbies my other one is is anime figures and even less so watches. all I want to say as you move up in audio dont forget to look back at the good cheap shit that is offered. I have a pair of tin t4’s and am about to pick up a pair of m570’s later but I still will very often pick up my k240’s or one of my few pairs of mh 755 instead cause I just want to give them a listen
well thats just the nature of things lots of people get really invested and drop tons of cash that looking back to them is pointless and a waste of time and energy cause why downgrade if I have this level of gear?
i mean yeah finding the gems in the dirt is definetly fun and part of the expirience for many but if you barely have enough for 1 set of headphones say in the 30-50 dollar range buying a 15 dollar headphone at walmart is detremental to your budget as a whole and no there is less opportunity to find something with your remaining budget
