Bottlehead Crack

Mines pretty much dead silent even without the diode mod

I think my electricity at home is crap. I tried a ground lifter plug and a bunch of other things. Only thing that worked for me to reduce the noise was the diodes.

Since we’re sharing, here’s mine. With Speedball upgrade, upgraded output caps, the pot is bypassed (I use an external preamp with stepped attenuator) and, Mogami input wire (much better at keeping noise out than the stock braid).

Any EU folks with these?

Just an FYI the build instructions show you how to wire the transformer for 110 or 220V.

Yeah, I saw that. Have a home in Madrid and Florida…thinking of ordering a kit or two…

Pretty sure there’s a good discount for ordering multiple together if that sways you lol. I was thinking of getting a couple and having fun building them. Seems prebuilts sell pretty well on ebay / etsy to recoop the extra.

Finished sanding this afternoon. Waiting until tomorrow to paint and stain due to humidity and storms rolling in.

1st coat of stain and paint. Absorbed a lot of stain. I will need to do 2 or 3 coats of stain for sure.

Looking good!

This is the hardest part, the multiple coats and waiting for it to dry , resand and recoat…the end results will be great!!

I believe the wood they give you (i forgot the species) is good at resisting stain. Keep with it!

Its Alder.

2nd coat of stain, 3rd coat of paint. Tricky staining alder, but it’s getting there. Probably will do 1 more coat.

Everything is drying up nicely.

This is the hard part for sure!

Woke up this morning and everything dried nicely. Have some small touch up spots to do.

Going to wait probably until this weekend to start the build so that the stain and paint have time to cure.
