Ah I ordered these from aliexpress, just interested to see if there’s any other pad combos that I could try. Lurking around old headfi forum posts, someone put HM5 pads on these lol

That sounds like a fun combo!

What size did you get?

asking a local shop to see if they still sell the ear pads. Only see people using them with emu purplehearts, curious to try now lol

I’ve tried Brainwavz angled oval pleather on them. While they’re very comfortable, it sounded a little hollow, I’m guessing because of the extra space from the driver.

I’ve been very happy with protein leather version of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32898660923.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.5de64c4dMaYIBr. The earholes are larger than the stock so a lot more comfortable for me. Though with what’s going on in China, don’t know if there will be delays.

hows the fit? tight, loose?

Fits well, slightly larger than stock I believe. I’ll try to get a picture later.

Standard, although I’m sure both sizes probably work

got my cal’s in yesterday. sound great. very smooth and easy to listen to. earpads little small for my large ears. fit perfectly on the wife’s ears tho. she doesn’t get hyped about audio ever. everytime i buy something shes like how much did that cost lol =) Told her i got new pair of headphones, and her response: how much did that cost!. i said 50 bucks, she said that aint bad. i said wait till you hear them. She tried them on and said " I can get behind these". Thats the only positive thing she has said about audio gear i have purchased ever lol. So take that for what ya want. Gets the WAF for price/performance.

If you are on the fence, do not be. just buy them you will not regret it. They are also cheap enough to use as great gifts to friends and family that do not know what they are missing yet =)

Just got the Meze 99 pads and they fit really well. Opens the sound a little more, but you do lose some bass.

They do look pretty sick though with these pads on. Can’t say much on comfort, need to use them a little longer. Definitely getting a better seal though.

So I purchased a new headset by Audio Technica, ATH-G1WL and it came with some extra earpads…

Very interesting, looks comfy :+1:

Does it do anything interesting to the sound?

Sounds pretty good. Maybe the low end is slightly less, but very very little. A little too hard for me to tell. Definetly comfy for sure.

I got the Brainwavz perforated pads for Sony as recommended by Zeos and it works great, puts more space between the pads and my ears.

These are my daily drivers and I enjoy them a lot. Buttery smooth and bassy perfect for Techno!

Did anyone else notice a weird low-end on them? With flat EQ it doesn’t extend nearly as low. Once you EQ it’s there but sometimes it sounds kinda odd, vibration if you like (rattling).
My reference is Plantronics PRO - those are great kit for bassheads, pricey though.

PS. This is my EQ for CALs which I feel they sound best with (bassy but not boomy, compensating as much for the low-end as possible). Looks simple enough but took me a while of going back and forth between different settings until I settled on this.

So is there a consensus for which pads are best on these? I’m between brainwavz for sony and meze 99 or trying with random aliexpress ones
