I think I can get behind the mojo (even found one on sale). Whatās the signature like? Iām sort of taking a leap with it and the a2c.
The mojo is a more neutral sound overall, pretty quick and detailed, but not harsh, good body, very refined
You think itād be boring with the a2c?
I personally donāt think so, it would be more neutral but itās still a pretty enjoyable listen imo
Would A2C be noticeable upgrade from AFC:RT? Looking at the graphs they have quite similar tuning. I already have RT, love them (sound signature, separation) and consider them my current āendgameā but knowing there is A2C around is still bugging me. Only thing that is stopping me from getting them is quite big price difference.
Yes it would imo from a performance standpoint, just look for an open box or used a2c, they should be 700 ish or a bit lower
They really figured out their tuning with the a2c imo. Had the open x and these are noticeably better. I got them on sale direct from DCA for around 700 iirc
So Iām still sorta new to this whole quest for audio, but I was wondering if it be worth buying a used pair of the original aeons for like 380 with shipping? I tried getting a lower offer from the seller but he wasnāt budging at all
Thatās what I paid for mine and they are some the best headphones I own.
May I ask what you like about the originals?
you happen to try the RT version in comparison? They look to be pretty close to each other.
in my opinion, No, as you can get an RT every now and then right around that price point or a bit higher which has a better sound and the better pads.that were added later. I have also seen on rare occasion the Open X pop up around that range as well.
Where have you seen the rt go for less than msrp? On the Dan clark audio page itself? And how big of a difference are the rt and og?
RT : offering a livelier, slightly leaner midrange, and enhanced bass and treble performance for a more fun and musical experience taken straight from Dan Clark on that one. The original a lot of people didnāt like. Lacked in dynamics, was boring, lacking air, imo not very good on the bass less it was closed back. Comparing that headphone to the new versions? I would take the new variations in a heartbeat.
didnāt take but a second of really searching for it.

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/fs-drop-dan-clark-aeon-open-x.925376/ Couple months ago already sold on open x but was sold at $375
The open-x took the tuning from the ethers and implemented it into the aeons giving it a more neutral approach in sound more attuned to the harman curve. RT took the open-xās tuning and increased the bass and some of the treble further giving it more of its V shape
Pretty sure you can find Aeon 2 like this as wellā¦ If I recall they go for like $650 - $700 though
Thanks for the insight man
man I must be dyslexic because I kept reading that exact listing as returned and not retune, no wonder Iāve been struggling to figure things out
If youāre interested in the Open X, Iām selling mine. PM if interested.
Thanks for the offer but Iām more interested in getting a closed set. Idk of anyone here has any knowledge of how long ago the rt was offered since the seller I was talking to told me he hasnāt had them for more than a year so maybe he does have the retune?
If a person doesnāt label it as the retuned version I would skip. A seller should know fully well if itās retuned or not as that particular version has to be ordered from Dan Clark directly. Much like open-x which comes from Drop. Aeon 2 doesnāt have any retuned and is sold in other places.
If seller is not sure RT have new DCA inscription on headband instead of Mr Speakers and different serial numbers (AOXC if Iām not mistaken). You can also tell from the stickers on box. DCA website is the only place to get them directly so if itās from other source its probably OG version.
Were moving to an Aeon Flow V2 Dekoni Pad using Dan Clarks patent pending adhesive. It will allow you to pad roll easily. He is currently producing it right now for us.
