I did end up ordering one for $190. Same seller who sold me the Elex.
Just don’t use them with the elex lol (or expect them to sound normal)

I use my Elex and Clear with tubes all the time. It doesn’t make as much of a difference as it does for my Sennheisers, but I definitely don’t think they sound bad in any way
Really? What amp? I don’t think most of the focal lineup sounds good on a true tube amp like the darkvoice. The low impedance of the focals don’t seem to respond well for tube amps for me
I’ve used them on the Dark Voice, ZDT Jr, and the La Figaro I just got. They weren’t great on the Dark Voice, but they are nice in the low gain jack on the ZDT Jr, and I’ve been using the Clears almost exclusively on the La Figaro. I only have the volume knobs slightly above 9 o’clock though. The La Figaro is really nice. I didn’t like the Empyreans running off of it, but there are a lot of people saying they use planars on it on the head-fi boards.
I think it would probably be good on the zst, and the output impedance on the balanced la figaro would be lower. Just off of the darkvoice 336se it wasn’t ideal imo
You guys have suggestions on tubes to try rolling with the dark voice? Ive seen people suggest rca and ge tubes.
Some folks like Tung Sol Russian tubes. I hear JAN NOS tubes are good.

For the Dark Voice, I liked the combo of a Sovtek 6AS7G power tube and a Tung Sol 6SN7GTB preamp. I don’t remember where I saw that recommendation, but i liked the sound and it didn’t break the bank. I think both of them ran me around $80 total

Seriously tho… Opened up a case with eBay. They said about 3-4 days to open up an invesrigation. Then i can call back Friday and I couls get my money refunded. If i understood correctly.
