Question: Does RCA output/passthru on the darkvoice affect sound or is it a clean passthru?
I never used it, but I want to say that I have read others saying it did color the sound. Also, I was really hoping you were going to get the Dark Voice from that seller, but I’m glad I didn’t end up biting on that Topping stack

So definitely adds some much needed “body” to the 660s. IMO.
I shluld be getting my tubes to start rolling by the end of the week. Got that lot of pre amp Tubes. And the Tung Sol Power Tube to start with.
But overall pretty happy with just the stock tubes even. Definitely what I was hoping for to start getting some different flavors out of my music versus the solid state.

So I do want to share some general impressions on the Dark Voice amp.
This is coming from someone who hasn’t really had much experience with tube amps.
Personally, as a vintage style headphone amp, I really like it. It really does have it’s own characteristics as a tube amplifier. It definitely gives some new life to the Senn 660s, It definitely warms up the lower mid-range. Previously haven’t had much desire to use the 660s with the Elex, Neumanns, and LCD2Cs in hand.
Personally, I think there’s a really huge appeal to the tube design. Not really sure how to characterize it. I wouldn’t recommend it as something accurate or with stellar performance. It has way too many limitations and is completely impractical. But I really like it a lot. Personally I think I’m mostly set as far as tubes go for now and will likely get some vinyl to pair it with in the future to get some full analog listening going.
I used to have a decent vinyl collection some years ago which I had to sell off for personal reasons. Would love to get that going again…
I love tubes as much for the aesthetic as any sound benefit myself. I typically use my tubes with classic rock and vinyl. Whether it truly makes the sound better is subjective (I prefer it), but I would never think to listen to rap or edm on tubes even if the added bass and soundstage would benefit from it. I was never the biggest fan on my 6xx’s until I ran them off tubes. They turned into a completely different headphone to me though and I liked it so much I went out and bought a pair of 600s. They seem to take to tubes even more. I’ve been watching for a good price on HD800s, but I don’t want to spend the money I keep seeing them listed for.
Yep I bought a Little Dot mk2 solely to drive my 660’s and don’t use anything else for them 
Yeah I got to say anything where you want bass impact and most modern rap and stuff like that isn’t the best on a tube lol
