Earbuds Discussion Thread

They just look so weird

Got this somewhere that I don’t remember. Can someone explain how do you actually achieve this step “Once it locks in, pinch and grab a stem and gently angle the driver outwards so more soundwave will travel into your ear canal.”

When I do it, I feel that I put more pressure on my tragus and loose some low end impact at the same time

haha those instructions are super vague, aren’t they? video would be more helpful. anyway, with earbud fit, once you’ve gotten the basics (the diagrams will help you get there), it’s best if you just find what works for you! for e.g., i get to step 3 and wiggle CW-CCW a bit until i get the largest stage

I think a video from someone who’s been testing a lot of earbud would be awesome. Maybe a point of reference for newbies getting into the game!

Thanks a lot man! Will try it out!

Has someone tried Rholupat earbuds in the past?

Recently got the temperment X10(apperently same company as ksearphone) and I found that both foams, dounuts and rubber rings negatively affects the “speed” along with the clarity. I really like it raw currently but am wondering is there anything to give better grip without affecting the sound.

Oh interesting, the rubber rings affect the sound for you? It might be that you’re getting a better seal and hence hearing more bass? I don’t see how else the rubber rings would impact the sound…

hmmm I wouldnt say its getting bassier over the rubber rings seem to be absorbing quite abit of the high end as such the overal SPL actually decreases when using rubber rings. That isnt the case with foam and (I reaslised I was putting dounuts wrong but I cant find a way to get it to fit properly) but the additional decay from foams is annoying.

Huh, that’s surprising! I need to A B myself because I didn’t think the silicone rings did anything - they don’t cover the faceplate, just widen the diameter…

Thank you!

So far, so good! Just using them for general PC usage at the moment (currently playing a game) but the bass texture is great as advertised! Imaging seems above average and vocal clarity is excellent! Swapped from the provided white foams to reds very quickly, will likely roll between reds and blacks as I dial in the sound. Easily up there with the Saber 3 already as “unless you need a specific niche, these are where you start and possibly finish”. The RG39 shells already fit my ears great, and the Caster-specific RG39-SE shells are more of the same, but an even more secure fit.
I’ll make a post with better descriptors once I break them in over the weekend, but already love 'em as usual!

Riku actually used my pair (with my permission) as the proof of concept production unit, so I suppose these are technically pair #1 (although there are no serials haha).

How much of a treble murder is Toneking Dendroaspis Viridis? More of an acquired taste or straight up masochism? They are now for $65 with coupon on ali and I’m tempted to try them as a specialized set. I wonder how to interpret this price - is it a good deal overall.

I have seen them get even cheaper around $45-$50 with coupons (most likely will see that on the bigger sale in a couple of weeks) but $65 is not a bad price at all considering (IIRC) that they retailed over $100 when released. I am in Europe and they usually hover between €60-€90 once all discounts factored in but that includes 20-25% VAT that we automatically have to pay for items under €155 (excluding VAT).

They are very specialised - I would say 70-80% would find them masochism. But if you can tolerate it (I can only handle short sessions on mid volume) the techs punch above their price. Build is also good.
