▶ Elac Debut Reference DBR-62

Hello
What for version you have tested? Are you Happy with it today after your Listing test?
Your comment was 23 days ago, where be fine when you can give same review about.
I think about the Debut 6.2 Series.Connected on the Denon Pma 880 NE Amp.

I’ve always found Bookshelf + sub to sound better than floorstanders w/o sub. To add, floorstanders + sub would be ideal.
In addition, the two models of speakers have very different sound signatures by the way, so your experience may wildly vary.

i am loving them. still using the cheapo tube hybrid for now. in a couple weeks i plan on getting a parasound 275 v2. i am not really that concerned with the low end either. it has enough. and i will be using subs down the road. i also plan on getting a couple 100watt sub amps, or maybe a crown xls1002, to power a couple 10" woofers. i have a pair of vintage infinity floorstanders i replaced the drivers with modern, better ones. they have 10" woofers i am going to use for the time being as “subwoofers”.

the bass has opened up more as well as the woofer has had more time to break in. i think once i get a more quality amp, they will sound great. i have a sprout100 i may hook them up to one of these days. just a pain in the rump because these do not fit on my desk and that’s where my sprout100 is. working a ton of hours at the factory atm, so do not have a lot of time to move gear.

ron, at new record day, loved the floorstander version. but a sub always helps, even with majority of floorstanders. like veritas said, adding in a sub to anything helps the low end.

When I see “ELAC” takes me a minute to figure out it’s not Focal headphone. Every time.

That sounds good.
I listened to Zeo’s video about 6.2 with the headphones and was pretty flashed what I heard out there. Even my wife when I showed it to her on the Ipad after we brought the Quadral Phase 190 into the house, we were both disappointed .
They are super processed, have great mids and highs, but there is a huge lack of bass.
If only I had listened to my gut feeling instead of the dealer.
I have in the living room a pair from Elac which were built in 1994-1996.
The Edition one is called.
What they pop out after all these years is phenomenal.
I’m really still considering whether I should not put another sentence in the media room even if it was too violent for the room.
Unfortunately you can only find them on the used market.
Would like to have something small and sympatic where there are great mids and highs and a powerful bass, without a subwoofer.Because a subwoofer under the desk is not suitable for reasons of space and unnatural.

Mine are dbr 62s. The upgraded version of the 6.2. they sound much better and refined.

Zeos review incoming I guess, he just unboxed these.

ha! i got something before zeos! he will love them and recommend a sub. i find they could use a sub for very heavy bass oriented music. but for most music the bass is plenty.

edit: hes also the worst unboxer. those came out hella easy from the top one at a time.

i was watching his stream the other day when he was putting them away and apparetly he didn’t like them. He said something like “they’re competent speakers but boring”. Considering how much praise these get everywhere else i just guess he doesn’t like neutral sounding speakers that much.

they are not that neutral. they are quite warm sounding. its the clean bass. he doesn’t know clean bass when he hears it :slightly_smiling_face:

did you happen to see what amp he was using with them?

no it wasn’t very clear and i just watched for a few minutes, sorry

no worries. i guess i can see with the music i usually hear him listening to. i find them quite fun, but the clean no boom at all low end can make them sound to neutral to some.

that’s whats great about this hobby. there’s something for everyone’s taste.

Just by looking at this (source)… I’d say some people might want a subwoofer. Not me.
Remember Zeos is a basshead. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: In this image, the “perfect” response is the red line. Not a 100% horizontal line. They’re don’t have laid-back treble.

Really not sure to buy the 6.2 or the Dbr 62.
The amp is a Denon pma 800 Ne.What to mean 6.2 or Dbr 62?

Are these good on a desk, around 10-15cm away from the wall? I really don’t have much space to work with. I do have width tho. My desk is 150cm long and 75cm deep.

Hmmm that’s a bit tight but I do think you could perhaps get it done. What amp do you have and what sound signature are you going for?
