Everything SJY Audio

Hi!

Video and written review are posting super soon. Overall, I like them a bit more than the Horizon open-back. Jeffrey cooked with these.

And I think he’s still cooking, too! :eyes:

I was asked on another forum how using two Gjallarhorns to power headphones sounds, and I decided to refresh my memory with a SN v1 listening session.

Got my Horizon closed today and will post impressions but initially I want to make two comments.

They are not that hard to drive, my Burson Soloist have absolutely no problem driving them. I´m at 50-70 (of 100) on the medium power level.

Dynamics is just fine to me, at least clearly better than my Audeze XC.

Congrats on the new headphones! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts once you get more listening time in.

Video dropping tomorrow but written review was just posted today. :slightly_smiling_face:

4.5/5 - great set.

Nice review, but I may still try them out on the Gjallarhorns anyway even though I know it is not needed  . That being said it sounds like I will need to get some listening time in with them on my Vali 3 (which is able to drive his older creations). It will be a little ways off though since I will be getting the open back version first.

I think your Vali will no problem driving these as it outputs 1,5W in 32 ohms.

Now I´ve had a lot more hours on my closed and have a few more observations.

Clarity is really good in all registers, choir pieces are fantastic, there are a little extra energy in the bass/upper bass that for most modern pop/rock recordings is just right. I suspect that most wont even notice it but if your bring out your reference recordings its there.

Comfort is really good with a low claping force.

Horizon Closed: the detail, separation, and imaging capabilities make me feel like I’m wearing different headphones for each instrument. It’s wild and addictive.
