šŸ”¶ FiiO FH3 2BA 1DD

Let me know how this cable turns out. Iā€™m looking for a decent mic cable as well.

Yeah hopefully it should do what I need it to

What exactly do they mean when they say ā€œstageā€ cable in the options?

I just got the android one, the stage might mean no mic

Honestly the cable is only a problem if youā€™re moving around with it a lot. If youā€™re just sitting and listening thereā€™s no reason to swap it out. I still use it at my desktop setup and swap if Iā€™m taking them on a run or something.

You didnā€™t see itā€™s H40 V1. The one they literally replaced free because it was so bad.

Iā€™m listening to the FH3 balanced on my Fiio Q5s with THX amp, and I do have a different impression of the FH3ā€™s performance on the Q5s.

The goodā€¦ The bass has more impact and is even more textured, controlled and detailed than on my desktop setup. Itā€™s definitely more punchy.

The badā€¦ The FH3 has more air and can be more sibilant.

Do you guys think the the DAC in the Fiio Q5s technically outperforms my SMSL SU-8? I didnā€™t think so, but now Iā€™m not sure. The amps should be about the same quality since theyā€™re both THX. Might be a good question for M0N.

The desktop gear has a softer/warmer presentation that I didnā€™t recognize so clearly as I did today.

Those iems are making me think of the cyber truck.

I wonder if they would be painful to wear. With edges like those, I donā€™t know if Iā€™d want them pressed into my ears. Iā€™ve heard the same concerns with the Campfire shells, although it appears they are making efforts to round the edges more on some shells.

M0N youā€™ll have to let us know your reactions.

Will do eventually, in a different thread though lol. So far actually no comfort issues for me at the moment (but I didnā€™t have any with campfire or the new final either)

I believe that FiioĀ“s dac,amp and Daps are tuned to be more on the analytical and brighter side. (At least the M11 is like that.)

So that is probably the reason for your different impression on it.

I would tend to agree, they have a more balanced slightly brighter more forward sound compared to like hiby or ibasso

Makes sense. Thanks guys. I usually prefer the sound of my desktop stuff, but the FH3 is resolving enough with that DD driver that I could better definition in the low end that I havenā€™t noticed before with headphones. I havenā€™t used IEMs with the Fiio much, if at all.

And yeah, I agree the upper frequencies sound more forward on the Fiio. I usually do not find this big of a difference in the source making a difference in sound.

Some iems are more source sensitive but yeah most iems only change a little bit with different sources (could also be placebo, due to me reading so many people saying that X source sounds like Y lol).

I think it depends on the source, you can have some iems that are fairly happy on anything, and some that can change drastically depending on the source gear. Although on the lower end side of things typically they arenā€™t too picky, and just getting a quality source is typically reasonable since you donā€™t have to worry about too much synergy/pickiness

yeah, just get a Fiio M11 or a Ibasso DX160 and most iems will sound good.

(well, only the very low impedance all BA iems are sensitive to sources more than others)

Thanks guys. I guess Iā€™ll be spending some time with my IEMs on my Fiio Q5s to make some determinations if certain IEMs are more source dependent than others.

This whole subject makes it more difficult recommend anything especially if things can sound quite different on different gear, let alone everyoneā€™s difference in hearing. UGH

You know when an IEM is good when people say that OOTB, haha. But, how much are you liking it? Any more in-depth impressions or comparisons to your underlined IEMs (sig on headfi)?

yes, that is why when someone disagrees with your evaluation on an iem. Things like tips, sources, music library and age/hearing health are all big factors in it.
