Good point about being prepared for other gear potentially requiring more output power! However, right now I have no plans of using hard to drive headphones on the go, so personally Iād take that risk for the added portability. With the FH3 specifically, Iām quite convinced the additional amp power would remain entirely unused.
So if anybody happens to be pairing their FH3 with a BTR3K, Iād still be highly interested in feedback regarding hiss
Hmm well Crinacle wasnāt impressed by these apparently, only rated them C+ (and the FD5 as well by the way). Seeing how he rates the Starfield higher than these I can safely say Crinacleās preferences and my own arenāt a match. That should save me a bit of money .
And on the other hand crinacleās preferences tend to match up exactly with mine!
Just goes to show how much this hobby is just whatever flavour you prefer. Although I still want to try the FH3 myself for something different than my end game B2 Dusk
I mean, we are talking about a ~150usd set. Donāt get me wrong, I enjoy mine and use it a lot, but at the same time I donāt expect it to be ultra high on ranking lists where the reviewer has heard basically every set on every price bracket on the market. I guess itās only naturalā¦ He even talks about it in his post:
True, though the Etymotic sr2se is way up and costs less than then FH3 I believe. But for me itās mostly the Starfield being two ranks higher and me not enjoying the Starfield. Not saying he is wrong, just not how I experienced those sets which is good to know for future reference.
I think I just might call it quits for a while. The only IEMs I really would like to try are the Etymotic which I think I will hate the fit of and the FD5 which is pretty expensive and, AFAIK, a better FH3 with slightly less subbass and more lower mids for over twice the money. And IEMs I can only order from China are a bit of of my comfort zone with the current ThieAudio L4 experience Iām having.
I didnāt phrase that right, my bad. I donāt mean to say the FD5 probably isnāt worth it, I mostly meant that, from what I understand, it doesnāt complement the FH3 but that itās mostly an upgrade over the FH3.
I still want the FD5, but I donāt think I will buy it now since it would probably render my FH3, which I donāt have for that long, obsolete.
So, i got the FH3 as a replacement to the Ikko OH10 because the OH10 hurts my ears, and even though the FH3 is great in my opinion the OH10 had a much deeper soundstage and a much faster and controlled bass.
Today i received the ISN H40, i was hoping that it would sound similar to the OH10 but it does not, it is closer to the FH3 in terms of bass at least, its soundstage is a bit larger but not a lot and lacks depth. I can see why people love it though, it is a more relaxed sound compared to the FH3 and it is really great.
Anyways, i am still looking for a OH10 replacement under $300 and i am thinking about the Penon Orb but i am not sure if it is exactly what i am looking for.
Any of you guys know of an IEM similar to the FH3 but with a deeper soundstage and a faster and more controlled bass?
One important detail is that i always EQ my IEMs and headphones so even if the bass quantity is less than the FH3 or the OH10 i can still get the bass i want with a bit of EQ, as long as the IEM is capable of texture, speed and control.
How about the FiiO FD5? Havenāt tried it myself, but from what I understand people find it to be an upgrade over the FH3 and praise itās soundstage.
The FD5 looks incredible, i am sure i would love it but it is a bit outside my budget. The only option which seems viable within my current budget is the Penon Orb, people say good things about it.
@Rikudou_Goku i highly recommend the OH10, it is just absolutely amazing in every way as long as it fits your ears right, in my opinion it is better than the FH3 in every aspect (and i love the FH3). If you get it please let me know your thoughts and if it compares to any other IEM you have heard before, i am really interested in hearing your thoughts on this one.
