šŸ”¶ FiiO FH3 2BA 1DD

yeah, I certainly hope so.

Graph wise it looks like a better tape.

I just noticed that the FH3 is described as ā€œDoes come off as sort of a broken FH5, but the FH5 elements are mostly there.ā€ in crinacleā€™s ranking and its rank is a C+ vs a Brank for the FH5.

Do you guys agree with that description? Most reviewers i watched prefer the FH3 over the FH5 so i was surprised to see this.

I disagree with pretty much all his rankings but I havent heard the FH5 to be able to say if it is better. I have seen as you mentioned, a lot of people (both users and reviewers) say they would take the FH3 over the FH5.

If you wake up in the morning and the FH3 suddenly sounds tiny and horribleā€¦

Just remember to return your Android Accessibility sound settings from Mono to Stereo again after sleeping with it on cause you listened to your single Minirig last nightā€¦:joy:

Man, I love my FH3s!

Did not realize these scale up pretty well.

Let the fun begin!

EDIT: Wow whats up with these Xelastec tips?! Fitting is a bit more complicated than the others, but after you get a fit it is like they are freakin glued to your ear canal! lol

EDIT2: For the FH3 the Spiral Dots are fantastic, the winner between these 3 for sure.

I keep coming back to the Spinfits though, just because it is so comfortable. I have my IEMs on 6 to 8 hours per day while working, with the Spinfits i canā€™t feel them on at all, while with any other including the Spiral Dots i can always feel them pushing against my ear canal.

ooh, please try the Final E TWS, itā€™s softer than the spinfit, most comfortable tips in my collection,
Final E TWS > Sony Hybrid > Ortofon > Spinfit > Spiral dot SF > Final type E > Azla Sedna

I was unable to find these for sale anywhere, but i just checked and they are finally available on amazon! I will grab some right now, thanks for reminding of this one!

After a month with the FH3 I thought Iā€™d update my impressions:

  • I think ā€œbrain burn-inā€ has definitely occurred, and Iā€™m a much bigger fan of the sound signature and experience they provide than I did when I first got them
  • Mids donā€™t sound as ā€˜shoutyā€™ anymore, in fact - everything feels like it has just enough energy before being a bit too much
  • The soundstage and imaging are some of the best Iā€™ve experienced on any headphone or IEM
  • Comparing them to the BLON BL03 - the BLONs do sound quite a bit looser in the bass and significantly less refined as a whole. Iā€™d consider the FH3 a great upgrade from the BL03.
  • I know this is Apples and Oranges - but Iā€™ve been A/B testing the FH3 against my Focal Elears - and on quite a few songs, I actually prefer the FH3 to the Elear as it gives you a more visceral experience, especially in the lower frequencies. The Elear still outclasses the FH3 on songs that highlight a sense of airyness between instruments and predictably presents a more spacious sound signature.
  • Iā€™ve been looking for a high end closed back headphone to use at work and despite auditioning so many, I donā€™t think any of them quite compare to the overall experience of the FH3.

Iā€™ve heard quite a few people mention they prefer the FH3 to the sound of both the FH5 and the FH7 (neither of which Iā€™ve heard). Iā€™d certainly be interested to hear what sort of IEMs people consider upgrades from the FH3, as I feel like there really isnā€™t much more that can be achieved in terms of sound quality within this particular signature.

Hey all. While I really enjoy my FH3, the shell hurts my outer ear at times so they are not very comfortable for long hours. Also when lying down their weight bites into my ears even more and canā€™t stand them for long so I switch to my minute MH1ā€™s for sleeping usually. I miss the clarity advantage of the FH3 when I do though, not the highs, the overall clarity. Do you think I could find a similarly signatured iem closer to the size and shape of the MH1? IE 800s maybe? I guess it should be a single DD to be that small. I donā€™t think I would like BA cause I like a deep, heavy but also tight bass. My ideal signature I think would be like the FH3, same clarity or better, same bass or even bigger and maybe a tad less strong midrange-treble. FH3 is piercing my ears with some songs with specific female voices, especially with the vocal and balanced tips. I can only stand them with the bass tips or foams. I am not sure if I described what I would like very well, sorry for my Englishā€¦

I would recommend the Ikko OH10 for both of you guys (2 posts above), definitely more relaxed in the mids and with better bass and much larger soundstage (imo, i am not a experienced reviewer).

They were impossible to wear for long sessions for me because of fit issues, but each ear is different.

Has anyone compared these to the JVC dual carbon?

Can anyone compare these to the ibasso it03? Wondering how different they are.

Fairly different sound sigs. The jvc are more transparent and have crazy slam/dynamics with lesser tonality while the fh3 have better tonality and a more forgiving smooth sound signature. I would say the jvc are more fun if u prioritize punch while the fh3 might be more fun if you prioritize bass quantity (quality still sides with the jvc by alot, much tighter and faster with more slam aboot) also jvc has better detail, however another issue is that the fh3 is easy to drive while the jvc requires decent power

Thank you! Looks like JVC completely outclasses the fh3 in technicalities. Hard decision. Canā€™t underestimate ease of use and versatility on source.

The jvc is very lean on midbass so the music has to have alot of sub bass to make up for the lack of midbass imo. I will continue to refer to it as ice while the ex800st is fire lol. Both are great and do special things, but they are not complete enough to be the only set.

Yeah for sure, source matters a fair bit with the jvc. I mean itā€™s not like crazy picky nor nothing, just needs some extra power. And yeah for sure I would say it is fairly better int erms of what it can do, altho I know the fh3 tuning is also loved by many so ymmv! (altho the fh3 had the technical abilities I wished the fh3 would have had)

From crinacle: ā€œThe FDX1 is a lean sounding monitor. Not necessarily a bad thing; the lesser mid-bass and lower-midrange response helps with highlighting the sub-bass and is part of the reason why the bass sounds as controlled as it is. Unfortunately this means that the FDX1 is not an IEM I would describe as ā€œrichā€, ā€œsmoothā€ or even ā€œmusicalā€, whatever thatā€™s supposed to mean.ā€

That description kind of reminds me of the LZ A6, very little mid-bass and awesome sub-bass and as a result mids and highs are clear and soundstage has lots of air. If you compare it to the ISN H40 for instance, which is mid-bass focused, the difference is huge and both has their cons and pros. I think the H40 is what he would describe as ā€œmusicalā€ and not lean at all.

This JVC sound very interestingā€¦
