I think I solved the fitting and comfort issue and now I enjoy the FH3 fully
The answer was a “shallow fit” instead of the deep one I was attempting until recently. Can wear them for hours now except when lying in bed, then some hot spots are felt after an hour or so but much better than before.
I am not eyeing other iems right now. Quite content with the sound of the FH3. I just wait for my NightHawks to complete my armory now.

The right tips will solve a fit and comfort issue,
you can sleep with this, no problem,
Final Type E TWS, and Spinfit CP1025,

No need to go there for me, stock bass tips work just fine and tame the highs enough for me to not sell these. :yum::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I’ve had a lot of weird trouble with these iems. Ever since I got them I was using them with the mid-sized stock pads. However, after a while I started noticing weird things.

I started feeling like my brain was turned off and a bit dissoriented. I tried playing piano with these on and I just couldn’t play at all, my rythm was non existent and I could barely move my hands like I normally do while playing. Also, when playing by ear, I simply could not find the proper sounds in songs I had already played by ear before.

Also, while studying or listening to meetings, I found out I couldn’t retain any information at all or even pay attention.

I found out the reason were the fh3 because I stopped using them for a while due to an uncomfortable hotspot that others have also described in this thread, and I noticed my previous problems disappeared. Then I came back to the fh3 and those problems came back.

After some research and asking around in reddit, people came up with the reason being the fit was too tight and the isolation was too strong, add that to the fact that these iems in have a particularly long nozzle that goes way too deep in my ear, and the result was a slight feeling of vertigo and dissorientation.

Some possible solutions were changing the eartips to ones that wouldnt cause such a tight fit and reduce the isolation, or use bigger tips and wear them a bit not so deep inside the ear. None of them seemed to work. Just wearing the right iem and trying the different tips for 10 minutes is already making my ear feel strange and disorientation starts again.

Is there any other way to face this issue? I’m starting to get legitimately scared of using the fh3, and its such a shame because I love the way they sound.

The FH5s and the FD5 both are semi-open. You shouldn’t feel any inner-ear pressure issues with those IEMs. Stay away from IEMs that aren’t well vented all together if you are sensitive to this.

You could try tips that are more shallow. The Sony EP-EX10A are pretty shallow for me (a bit too shallow in my case). Or maybe try foams? Though those also seal well, they do alleviate problems such as suction so maybe they will work in your case as well?

my simple solution would be,
pick a shortest tips, like the Final E TWS,
try the size M first,
then go to sleep with the iem,
play music with lowest volume so that you could barely hear it,
about 3 days it will start to feel comfortable,

Hi experts ; ]

After about 12 days with the FH3 l’m a bit disappointed. My pair has an accented 700-1300hz region that is just so tiring to my ears. Really not my preferred sound. They are very clear, separation is great, imaging is great. But that troublesome midrange area is ruining it for me. l get tired listening to my music with them very quickly.
Usually l use large silicone tips with large bores.
Are there any tips that are known to lower that frequency range that’s giving me trouble?
l tried the usual narrower bore tips that came with them. Not much improvement.
Thanks >>>

wow
using an EQ and bringing 1K down a bit
 makes these just unbelievably good
 wow !

They kinda ruined me tbh. The FH3 gave me that wow- feeling a well. It did things I didn’t knew I liked and blew me away. I recently bought the FD5, but it hasn’t geven me that wow-feeling yet, even though I think it’s better than the FH3

Once you been blown away once its harder to be blown again later.

Mentally l have to get over the fact that l can listen to it only with EQ with 1k brought down. Some IEMs seem to play well with no EQ. But with EQ - not bad at all !
l would love to try the FD5/Oxygen because l have a feeling they have a more life like timbre to instruments

That they do. 2 top tier single DD iems, hard to beat their timbre and especially with hybrids.

Between the Starfield, Diamond, FH3, T2, IT00, 1.1 and various KZ/CCA - the Diamond are the closest to my preferred sound. Big V l know but, the details are there. The transparency is there. Mids don’t hurt, Treble doesn’t hurt. Yes the bass is big and transitions to the midrange not so elegantly. But they are just great. l now regret not going for the Believe. l have QC issues with the Diamond but from the little experience l have l think l’m a single DD fan. l’m considering getting the TC01 just for fun.

You might wanna keep an eye on the KBEAR Aurora then.

I am playing with EQ for the first time now and I get exactly what you mean. For me the FD5 has just a bit too much mid/upper-bass, taking off half a db from 125 -250 hz makes them better to my ears.

If you’re into V you’re better off without the EQ I did, I’m not into V, though I do need my treble and sub-bass.

THANK you !

l’m not into a V necessarily [and also actually think using alphabet for describing frequency response is limiting].
l’m sensitive to the 1k area. So that area has to be relaxed for me. Also, when it is relaxed it adds to the depth and wideness of soundstage. And sometimes that area is indeed relaxed in “V” signatures

I just got a balanced 4.4mm cable that I like for these pups. Swapping MMCX cables wasn’t exactly a breeze, and like a lot of others, I nearly thought something would break, but thankfully it all worked out fine. Swapping MMCX cables is not something I’d like to repeat regularly. Haha.

Someone else mentioned that going balanced with an IEM also means depending on a 3.5mm adapter when the situation arises, and, more importantly, remembering to have an adapter on hand. Given that IEMs are obviously more portable and often used outside the home, it got me thinking that maybe the trade off of sticking with a 3.5mm cable trumps the 4.4mm balanced experience.

Wondering what others think here.

I have balanced on mine, maybe a little overkill lol.
