What do you mean dry ?
What do you mean dry ?
Not sure of the technical reason behind it, and I apologise for the esoteric description. I think it is something to do with the quality or quantity of reverb, or rather a lack of it, affecting the ambience. Itās one of those things that I find hard to describe, but I know it when I hear it. My HD600s for example would be a counterpoint, I would not describe them as dry. The X2HR are somewhat dry. The Mele are not dry.
Reading back over some of the comments above. I donāt agree that the treble is harsh. Thatās not my experience. But I guess some people are more sensitive to certain frequencies than others. Might also be a function of the music you are listening to.
I think I do agree with some of the comments which are suggesting itās lacking in the ambience or timbre department. Might line up with my comment that it can sound ādryā (apologies again).
Is it my favourite IEM? No.
Is it bad? No.
Would I recommend this headphone to others? Probably not. I think there are better choices for less money.
Having said that, I donāt āregretā purchasing it. Itās an interesting IEM that I will continue to pickup. Itās also one of the most comfortable IEMs I own, and well built.
In the original state the fhe totally useless for me because the harsh fatiguing (dryš) treble ,but this starfield filter tamed the highs and i enjoy the sound now. I think I will keep it

Thanks for your opinion /insight. Which iem would u recommend over this one? For the same price range

I think other people would have wider experience than me, and could provide a more comprehensive recommendation. The FHE, are actually the most expensive IEMs Iāve purchased. I have more experience with headphones. Of the IEMs I currently own my order of preference (based purely on my perceive pleasure in listening) would be:
HBB Tripowin Mele (despite the QC issues, which I hope have been resolved) >
CCA NRA (despite the fit being a bit awkward for me) >
KZ Zex Pro (growing on me) >
Fiio FHE
In the past Iāve had Shure SE215 (great fit, meh sound), Shouer Tape (garbage fit, interesting sound) and Tin Hifi T2 (garbage fit, meh sound). But I would see no cause to recommend any of those. Iāve had a few other random sets which I canāt remember (tennmak something, ā¦)
Bit of a coin toss between the NRA and ZEX Pro.
Regarding fit I have a preference for IEMs with a relatively shallow insertion, where the body of the IEM can sit close or be in complete contact with the outer ear. The NRA have a longer nozzle than the Zex Pro or Mele, which for me, and the tips I have means the body of the IEM tends to be slightly pushed out from the surface of the outer ear. Iāve switched to Ikko I-planet Tips (small) which minimises this effect, but it does annoy me slightly (I donāt think it has much impact on sound, just my own neurosis).
The Shouer Tape has a long thick nozzle, with any tip in which I can get a decent seal, feels like someone is trying to have unlubricated sexual relations with my ear canal. The Tin Hifi T2 seems like they were designed without any consideration for the shape of the human ear.
I understand. Thank you for your reply. Hbb melee seems Interesting
One of my favourite reviewer, watched it live, and i sort of understand how Fhe sound.
Really tempted
Really tempted
Just watched the review, I thought it was a kind of mixed review. Out of curiosity what have you heard or seen that has you tempted?
Basically just the bass. I first got fh3, also due to the review by SuperReview. While i like it, i feel that i want more bass.
Then i got Ikko OH10. It got the bass that i wanted. Really suit my taste, almost like tailored made for me. More energetic treble too, since itās a v shaped sound signature.
But i admit, it has it flaws. The midrange is pulled back, the vocal feel like the singer is singing way back in a large room. Fh3 definitely win in that department. At times i miss fh3 midrange while listening to OH10.
Fhe Eclipse seems like something that bridge fh3 and OH10, something in between, or a mix of both world. at least to me (from the review and graph response)
Thatās what tempted me.
On some more listening, I would skip the low shelf. Not necessary with the other changes.
My thinkingā¦
Interesting. Worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion
Thinking the 500hz correction is not ideal (I mean it sounds ok, but I think we can do better). I was looking for an adjustment for a āfullerā sound. Perhaps the bass rise to start with a more aggressive slope would be better. Something to fill in between 100 and 300 hzā¦ Iāll have another tinker and revert later.
Voices in the FHE are really centered and feel quite forward. I know what you mean with recesed voices, and the FHE doesnāt have that presentation.
I have to admit that this IEM is difficult to describe, because it is v-shaped, with the bass and treble elevated, but mids are also very clear and forward. I donāt have the feeling to miss any detail in voices, or more mid centered instruments.
Saying ābass elevated for audiophilesā seems like a marketing slogan, but it really is a perfect way to describe how they sound.
I can understand why Superreviews says that it is too much bass for him. But I can tell you that it is just a preference. The quality of the bass is great, doesnāt affect the performance of the other frequencies. Itās like salt in your plates. Zero salt feel bland, too much salt kills the rest of the flavors. But āsomeā salt not only adds salt flavor, it helps to enhance the rest of the food flavor. Some people just want a pinch of salt, some people prefer two pinchesā¦ Then some people consider that any salt over x quantity is ruining your plateā¦
I have them and I agree with the review. I think that he does a great job describing how they sound.
Yeah. I totally get your point. And good note on āsaltā analogy. I love OH10, not only i like āsaltā, i probably have high blood pressure.
And i agree with u. Despite any complaint he has with FHE, he described the iem well and comprehensive.
When i watch his review, i donāt feel like he putting FHE down, or saying itās bad.
All Iām getting is āhmmā¦ This feel like it would suit me and my personal taste. I probably will get FHEā.
Sometimes we have to differentiate a review that condemn/criticise the product,
with review that says āitās not for me, but it might be for uā. Hence why i love SuperReview (and of course other reviewers too).
At his point I have embraced it: I am a bassheadā¦ specially if I compare myself with some audiophile standards, that have a clear tendency over neutrality.
I need a more spicy, fun, and engagement tuning. Too much detail, and neutral tuning, makes my listening experience too analytical, I start to think too much and to analyze music, and I just want to enjoy it. I donāt advocate for Skullcandy or the first Beats headphones. But I love well tuned bassy headphones and IEMS.
I donāt want to hype anything, but, for 149$, I think that the FHE are something unique. There are not a lot of IEMs like this. With the information that I have now, I will 100% will stop at the FHE. The Clairvoyances seem like a overkill at this pointā¦
