Yeah itās the same with OG Clear and OG Clear Pros being the same too. I guess pro just means extra padsā¦ Everyone has their own preference for the looks. Iāll admit I like the look of both but prefer the Pro. Too bad they donāt let you pick the look and whether you want the xlr cable vs extra pads.
according to the review the pros come with a different cableā¦ sounded like he mentioned that a coiled cable comes wih the pro. So seems like pro has extra pads and a coil cable while the OG has a straight cable but balanced
Kinda the same as resolves findings and preferences
These reviews from Resolve and Crinacle are making me wish I had the OG Clear to a/b with. For what my opinion is worth, over the four days Iāve been listening to them, I absolutely love them.
The reviews donāt bother me at all. Much of it is subjectiveā¦I mean we arenāt talking about a GL2000. This is still a very good HP. Iām still very excited to get my Pro MG which should arrive tomorrow!!
I donāt mean to imply that they arenāt, or that anyone that is considering them might regret it, because I donāt see that happening. Itās just that, I sit here and listen and to them, and they sound so good, and then I hear someone like Resolve say that he thinks the OG Clear sounds better to him? It just makes me curious and want to try them both myself to see if I have the same opinion, thatās all.
No I didnāt think you implied that. My comment was just in general to the reactions on this thread. That deal on headphones dot com for the OG Clear is damn good though.
I didnāt realize they had them back on sale. When they put them on for $990 for a few hours last week, I tried to buy a pair before I bought the Mg. But when I still hadnāt received a shipping notice the next afternoon, I got on their live chat and they told me that that was a mistake on their end and they werenāt supposed to be priced for that, and that they didnāt even have any in-stock. So I just had them cancel it and bought these. I guess they must have accidentally put the sale up earlier than they intended to last week.
Iāve been listening to mine basically non-stop since I got them and Iāve actually wondered if people like Crinacle just need to be a contrarian or if they can truly hear stuff that I canāt hear. Even on a budget stack, waiting for my Jot2 and Bifrost2 to get here, these are the most exceptional-sounding headphones Iāve ever heard.
Hey I got a song recommendation to listen with these, Spem in Alium on Sacrum Profanum ā¦ just wow

I think being that this headphone is a bit warmer than the previous one, some folks are just going to be put off by that right away if that is something they are not into. Plus the question I would also ask is really how long did he spend with them before he posted his opinion about them? There is also the question of what did he use as his source?
Again this is all very subjectiveā¦ we just have to trust ourselves if we enjoy what we are hearing then that is what matters
Donāt worry about it. If you enjoy them, thatās all that matters. Iām with you. Personally the metallic timbre of the original Clear wasnāt to my liking. The elevated low end and warmer/smoother treble are just what the doctor ordered for my ears. The original Clear didnāt do it for me like the MG does.
I personally donāt agree with a lot of Crinacleās headphone ratings. The first list he had up is now completely different than what he has now. He upset a lot of people especially with some of his ZMF ratings. Donāt believe everything your read. Itās just one manās opinions.
Think about thisā¦ FOCAL themselves see the Clear MG as the successor to the original Clear and have decided to discontinue it in favor for the MG.
I am of the same opinion of Jude Mansilla from Head-Fi. āThere is nothing about the FOCAL Clear MGās performance or sound signature that is not an improvement on the original.ā
That was great!
100% agree. Iām very sensitive to treble and this headphone is probably the brightest Iāve ever owned or been comfortable with but thatās because it does treble so well. Thereās amazing detail but itās never sibilant or fatiguing.
Yeah, no doubt. Iām also not nearly as āexperiencedā in analytical listening as others are, but I know what works for me and these are definitely working for me.
Itās funny because I could barely listen to the Dekoni Blue nor the DT 770 Pro because of the treble - gave them to my brother and he was likeā¦ these are awesome, whatās wrong with you?! I guess we really do all hear things differently.
It is just that his preferences tend to lean more towards technicalities over timbre, hence his lower ratings for cans warmer than the Utopiaās for example. If you like your cans, continue to like them. The final arbiter should be your ears, not someone elseās.
So have I. I honestly canāt remember the last time that Iāve been so consistently just listening to music. Normally I would have a YouTube video on in the background, but the past few days Iāve had Spotify open and playing and just enjoying the experience.
Agreed. Thanks for sharing that.
hence his lower ratings for cans warmer than the Utopiaās for example.
Very good point. If I recall, Crin had the Utopia as his number #1 headphone. For me personally, I did not enjoy the Utopia compared to many other headphones. I like a balance of fun, relaxed, detailed and stage. Overly analytical cans arenāt as enjoyable for me.
Itās all subjective especially when we all enjoy different types of music. Different headphones with certain strengths or weaknesses are going to be valued more or less by an individualsā preferences.
My buddy got these in today and has literally been blowing me up on my phoneā¦ guess I absolutely need to test these out now. The moment I get a chance these will be ordered for audition. Not everyday Iām told these can best my t1 in its sound signatureā¦ guess Iāll find out.
Also thanks to those who recommended the rnhp combo seems itās highly recommended for focalā¦ I plan to have that ordered soon as well.
That looks like a very nice OCD compliant fit for that headphone and stand.
Oof
I am kinda upset that this review is so bad. Strange that he rated MG version so low, and I hope that it is some mistake.

I love this track. I keep recommending it to everyone haha.
