Immediate impressions after just a few songsā¦
The Zeus definitely is a āfunā sounding headphoneā¦though since it was really my only one along with the TYGR 300r I didnāt really understand what that meant. I do now for sure.
Playing some of my music on the new Clear MG Pro I instantly noticed if a song quality was bad. Some songs I just immediately clicked next on to get out of it. To be fair, these are old files of mine so I can probably find newer versions of them on Amazon HD and compare that part.
Stillā¦the Clear is justā¦impressive. Iāll find more words to describe it here soon but for now that is the word I am going with. I could just say they are Clearā¦but thatās cliche.
Right now Iām going back to my library and going to do some random plays on all different genres.
One side note - I am using a Magni Heresy/Modi3 stack as itās all I have. I instantly had to give these more power than my Zeus. So they definitely respond well to power! Canāt wait to get my Magnius/Modius combo in to go balanced.

Did they change the headband at all? I have an Elex and I get a crazy hotspot dead center on the top of my head.
Not that I can tell. The clear ear pads are much more dense than the Elexās tho.
Damn, i thought about pads but im not sure theyād help, the curve of the headphones is basically the same as my head so the pads dont even really support any weight, theyāre just kind of ā¦ there.
If the Elex is painful for you, then I wouldnāt risk it. All the FOCAL headphones Iāve owned have the same fit, just different pads. I do not know for sure if the headband padding is different but to me, they all feel the same.

I just bought a pair of these on eBay in āopen boxā ānewā condition. Seller has good feedback and accepted my offer of $1100. Really hoping I like these because I LOVE how they look.

Got to try these for a bit. I wonāt say I am thoroughly impressedā¦ but I did enjoy them more than my OG clear but if I am honestā¦ they are quite remarkably similar in tonality though that added warmth to me personally is definitely much more preferred as I found og clear a bit lacking for me on the lows and lower mids. I do agree this is more what I had expected going to the T1 3rd gen and didnāt get that lol
Hoping to get one of these that I can sit with for a bit longerā¦ as that absolutely wasnāt a long period of time maybe an hour
For the price thoughā¦ considering I got og clear for likeā¦ $600 less than these are priced thatās a pretty hard sell to me as an owner of the og clear

Yeah, it seems to be the case that if you already own an OG Clear, then it probably isnāt worth it. Even personally, as much as Iām convinced I would prefer the sound of these over the OG, if I had already owned the OG, I donāt think I would have given any serious thought to buying the Mg.
Not so much a serious thought as much as my own curiosity ya know? When your in this hobby you tend to really want to try the new stuff that comes out lol. Focals are some of my favorite headphones next to my beyers so seeing a new clear like that had me rather curiousā¦ itās absolutely more in line with my preferences but the price point isā¦ to say the least not happening for meā¦ I could grab a clear or elex eq them a bit and save quite a bit in this regardā¦ though it did sound a bit more detailed and the likeā¦
I donāt personally think itās one I will be purchasing anytime soon less I sell the OG offā¦ I do wish focal offered the ability to purchase the different color schemes on their headphones thoughā¦ I would happily taking the MG colors over the OG

Oh yeah, I know. I really wish I had an og Clear just for a few days to compare the two, for no other reason than personal curiosity. And I kind of want to try a Beyer, but at the same time not knowing how sensitive I am to that treble is keeping me from doing it.
Though I never heard the OG Clear myself, I can definitely understand why someone would not jump from those to the MG version. If its that close in tonality then yeah dropping 1500 for a subtle difference really isnāt worth it. Again though, worth is different to every individual.
I am very thankful I was able to skip over the GL2k and go to these instead. Though now I probably will be with these for quite a while before another purchase considering the cost they were. Iām happy thoughā¦amazing quality and sound to my ears. I didnāt even mention when I unboxed just how comfortable they are too. At 450g it is balanced so well it feels lightweight for my head. Clamp is solid and earpads are plush.
I made myself listen to music on these for the first 2 days I owned them before I even attempted gaming with them. Of course nobody should purchase something like this to game on, but damn they are good for that too lol. True soundstage is not big, but everything else is fantastic. Just makes me sad now to hear just how horribly mastered some of my older music is now. These definitely bring out the details.

Has anyone compared the Mg vs Elex? I love my Elex, would it be worth the upgrade. Iām using Foobar > Bifrost 2 > Jotunheim 2 > Elex.

Now that Iāve adjusted to them, I can wear them no problem, but the first couple of days they felt pretty heavy on my head. But I was coming from the 6XX, so I was honestly surprised at how quickly I adjusted to them. I still wouldnāt say they are quite as comfortable to me as the 6XX, but man, they arenāt far off for how much heavier they are.
Agreed. There were songs I listened to that made me sit back and go, āOh, Iāve never heard that before!ā And then there were other songs that made me go, āEw, what is that!?ā As for gaming on them, yeah, probably not the intended use case, but for the games I play they work really well.
If I hadnāt stopped my brother from pulling the trigger on them, I probably could have helped you with that before long. But he knows even less about this stuff than I do, so I wanted him to do some research and make sure that was really what he wanted before he dropped that kind of money. If I find out that heās gone ahead and gotten them, Iāll see if I can swipe them for a bit and compare since I have the Jot2 as well.

yeah, I canāt really get the two in house at this current point in time. I would like to a/b them.
They are different for sure, but only like an hour if that worth of time with a headphone like this sure isnāt enough
The main thing I liked on that one was just how spacious and relaxed it soundedā¦ I wish more headphones took that approach. Though if I had to choose between the gl2k and the clears or even the elex? I would absolutely take the focal
on the bright side, og clears may drop in price due to this and be easier to get

I sold my Elex as soon as I received and heard the MG. I actually sold my Elex, Elegia and Sendy Aiva.
