I wear glasses and I have had zero issues getting a seal with the Elegia. It does seem like other people have had different experiences though.
Second what @MrAyrit said. I never heard a difference with or without glasses, so I guess YMMV. One thing you may look at is trying out the difference with a more āclampsā headphone you may have, like the Sennheiser 600 family, for example.
I for one love the Elegia, so I would say get them if you can. There were a few members selling pairs last week, maybe they still have it? Have a look at the āBuy/Sell Looking forā thread.
Just in case
I am also a glasses wearer. I think thatās one of the reasons I also recommend the iFi bass boost (or similar) with Elegia as the seal gets a little questionable. However, if youāre not a bass head there should still be enough bass even without the bass boost.
I agree here. I wonāt say Iām exclusively a bass head, but I definitely have those tendencies and I get in that mood from time to time. I still enjoy the Elegia VERY MUCH running off the RNHP at my desk. Itās my favorite pairing that I have found so far. Once I give my ears a few minutes to acclimate I really donāt find it lacking in bass. It has enough body and the texture and dynamics are just great. The Hip Dac also has good synergy with the Elegia even with Xbass turned off. But itās nice to have the option when you want to rattle your brain on occasion.
Iām selling my Focal Elegia. I bought them in March of this year and they are in great shape. Have the stock box and all stock included accessories. PayPal only and I will pay for shipping. Continental U.S. only. $375

How long after a headphone is discontinued are parts like ear pads still available. I am thinking that I might want to get a set proactively.
Is Moon Audio the only place to get new/replacement pads for the Elegia?
Iām in the US
It isnāt the only placeā¦but unfortunately, that is the price you will pay minimum. Focal earpads are expensive, unfortunately.
Yep, they seem pretty proud of their pads for sure, ha!
Cool, I was more wondering about Moon being the only source. I donāt necessarily need pads now as you well know.
I have been using the heck out of the Elegia (thanks!) and just want to be prepped. I ordered a Hart Audio cable set that should be here next week so, I thought why not get a set a spare pads to have at the ready too.
I thought the same thing too. Iāve had pads for other headphones wear down before but usually other common manufacturers such as Dekoni can provide after market pads if the original manufacturer does not sell them. For Focal though itās very pad specific.
How long do the focal pads typically last with regular use?
Iām also wondering this because I donāt want to have to spend that much on pads. Iām wondering if you can hand wash them with cold/warm water and a bit of laundry detergent.
Yeah, they seem well made. Not like theyāre going to start flaking apart or coming apart at the seems any time soon. I suspect theyāll last for a few years at leastā¦ but I have no experience! If anything maybe they will start to lose their shape?
God. Damn. These are wonderful.
These are the perfect compliment to my Verite Open. Iām done. Game Over. Home Rig is through. Traded for a RNHP. I donāt know who got the better deal but Iām gonna walk away thinking I did.
Iām running Gungnir->Mjolnir 2 & 2x 6922 Electro-Harmonix-> Elegias
Extra couple pad sets - even at 120 a pair Iāll likely buy 2x pairs and still think Iām walking away with a steal.
ZMF Aeolus will be dropping in price as they can bounceā¦ humans in EU on here get priority price.
Good to know! I was curious if tubes could give an extra punch to the Elegiaās bass.
Still donāt know where to look though, my experience with a cheap tube amp made me suspicious if I am a tube guy, and Iām afraid of spending a lot of money on it.
But weāll, at least there is an option higher in the chain.
I tried dekoni sheepskin pads on my focal elegia and it improved the bass and therefore the cohesive sound experience by a mile. I was about to send my Elegias back, but after Dekoni Sheepskin pads I kept them. Yeah the pads cost 100ā¬, but it was worth it.
Mine are still available for sale here if anyoneās interested: Buy/Sell and Looking for Thread
Great headphones and also the Dekoni Elite Hybrid pads are great for it, but yeah for whatever reason they just didnāt really gel with me. Crazy how we all perceive audio in such a different way sometimes, lol.
