what part specifically do you need? The driver? Headband?
Specifically, the fully functioning driver. That would be great. Otherwise if you are selling the entire headband, Iâd take that as well.
PM me an offer. And let me know where you live. Generally. So I can get an idea on shipping.
Testing right now. This is a working driver. Might be willing to sell it along with the general front housing like this.
Oh and I hope anyone who claims cables makes a huge difference notes those wires goimg from the connector to the driver. Lol
No mattet how much uou spend on a cable. Signal still has to pass through the cheap wire installed on the inside of the headphone.
Not defending ultra expensive cables or anything but with that short of runs of cable it really doesnât matter
I reckon it would still ruin the âpurityâ you would benefit from pure silver, oxygen-free⊠etc etc⊠but yeah, point taken.
Hereâs a video of testing the driver. You can see the driver in âactionâ. =)
Personally a bit unsure about wanting to sell the driver itself⊠as I like having it for insurance in case one of my drivers ever go out on my âbabyâ.
You should probably keep it then. Always good to have one in your back pocket.
I poached a basically pristine set on ebay, with a side non-functioning. The solder joints were already crappy and probably like 5 out of the 11 wire strands were actually touching the PCB of the 3.5mm connector. Itâs definitely the coil after testing with multi meter.
Iâm exploring if I can fit berylium drivers in it as its too shallow for 97*76 planars.
I was just listening to a little friday afternoon Coltrane on my LCD-X. When I switched to Giant Steps I had the impulse to switch to the Elex.
Wow is the word! If youâre an Elex owner, just know that it matched or beat headphones twice itâs price with Historyâs best example of hard bop. Yowza!
If only the cables were just a touch less stiff, Iâd have no problem with them. I like the clothe and overall feel, but the stiffness really does it for me. Ive had worse. But Iâve also had a lot better and seeing as though this is my most expensive headphone today, I feel like they need a nicer cable to just really complete the excellent package that these things are.
Yes this is the issue for me as well.
They are clearly trying to provide a cable people equate with quality, but itâs stiff and heavy making it inconvenient to actually use.
You guys are too nice. The cables are atrocious. Absolutely horrible. Almost unusable. An embarrassment to Focal Audio, itâs employees and the entire nation of France.
But the headphones are amazing. If you factor in the cost of a new cable these headphones are still a fantastic value.
I think Iâm gonna get the Hart audio cable and a few different interconnects
imo you canât really do better than his cables right now. They are well made and relatively inexpensive compared to others.
Mass drop sent me a pair of HD6XX in my bounty box, and while I can see the appeal in a $200 headphone, itâs not even close to the Elex. In fact Iâm surprised so many people compare them.
I feel just like my K7XX, there is just nothing the 6XX do better than the Elex.
The 6XX do sound better off my CTH than off my Jotunheim and maybe with a more distinct tube sound there might be something there to make me want to listen to them.
But I guess I can thank Massdrop for reinforcing my view of the Elex as well worth the additional cost.
I think the real appeal of the 6xx or 600 is the excellent midrange timbre, and I think itâs better than the elex in that regard (on certain amps). But other then that
My totally unscientific assessment, is I can listen to a track on the 6XX and it sounds pretty good, but I get goosebumps listening to the same track on the Elex.
I might give the 6xx another chance later, on some different recordings.
Well you just sold me with that comment
Aaahhh. The 'ol goosebump test.
As good as any audio analyzer if you ask me!!
You really think the elex is that much better then a 660s?
