Iām not really bothered by the no case thing but yeah they need to step up their cable game.
Yeah, 20 bucks for a cable that is superior in every way shape and form is kind of insane when you think about the price point of the cable. Maybe i am just pickyā¦ Honestly i kinda hated my periapt cable for my hd 6xx as well. I donāt like to feel like im being dragged around by my cables. I just enjoy soft slinky light cables. The only time i can see needing some beefy cables is when you are rocking something that requires silly power.

I actually think the Sennheiser 58x or 6xx cables are pretty nice imo for what you get. Better than stuff like the fostex x00 cables which are pretty hard to manage

Meh, microphonic cablesā¦I just get naked and rub myself down w/oil before sitting down for a good listening session, takes care of all microphonic issues, no fancy cables neededā:rofl:

I find that tea tree oil gives a much warmer sound compared to the harsher fryer oil.

So Iāve got some Focal Clears on the way. Should be here Monday according to ātrackingā. Being very fond of the Elex, Iām looking forward to comparing the 2 and seeing how they measure against each other. Given how āinfamousā the Z review was for those, Iām definitely looking forward to hearing them for myself. lol 
. Others reviewers, including Tyll and Josh really seemed to like them a lotā¦
My expectation based on my limited research, is that they will be VERY similar tonally, with the Clear having a bit better clarity in the lower-mids and a cleaner bass responseā¦ and maybe just slightly better resolving overall.
The thing Iām a little hesitant on is the āpearlyā color scheme. May be a bit too āgaudyā looking for my taste.

Iām glad you pulled the trigger! They are awesome headphones. If I am showing my ābestā headphones to people who havenāt heard good headphones, I show them my Empyreans, but if I am showing them to someone who has owned a $100-$200 headphone (usually gaming-type garbage), I show them the Clears. It may not be the OMG experience since you have already heard the Elex, and you may not even 100% see the difference at first, but give it a weekend and you will start seeing the differences pretty noticeably
