Really? Every senn cable I have tried on the fostex has polarity issues. If you try it on a senn does it also work normally?
Yes it has worked fine on my HD58Xās and HD600ās although I did not do a polarity test.
You got me paranoid now. I have spent last 10 minutes going back and forth between the cables and I donāt hear any difference although the XLR output seems to be a bit louder and I have to turn it down a bit.
I have been using it with the HD58Xās for a few months as the Fostexās and HD600ās are new additions.
Thatās just really strange lol, because if there is not a polarity issue with the fostex, there would be one with the senn lol. If neither have an issue thatās even stranger
I will be the first to admit that I am not an audiophile and do not possess āgolden earsā. But it sounds fine to me.
Thatās all that matter.
Was talking to mark lawton and he said the type 5 cups have the same sound the ebony stock cups come with. i ordered that type, Bolivian Rosewood.
Niceā¦!
Can these headphones take a XLR adapter? somthing like this but for 1/4:
also does anyone know where to buy one? i cant seem to find any, their all 3-pin
You would need a balanced cable in order to run them balanced. Donāt convert your balanced output on your amp to single ended as you can ground out the amp
And that would be a bad thing?
Correct, it can harm your amp
We were actually talking about that in a different thread
But didnt Zeos use one of these in his videos? and why is massdrop selling them?
That converts a 2.5mm balanced to xlr, so itās balanced to balanced not for unbalanced use
well that sucks, the balanced output on the sp200 is better than the 1/4
Well I mean you can just get a balanced cable
no good, my cable is attached.
Ah, I couldnāt recall what version you had. Lawton also does cable mods but yeah then you canāt use balanced
How much better is it really, I thought for thx the output was more about convenience and the outputs were pretty much the same, differences minute.
A single ended output is basically L+, R+ and GND connecting ground to both L- and R- on the headphone is harmless.
A balanced output is L+/L- R+/R- connecting L- and R- on the amp to GND on the headphone shorts them out.
There is one exception to this, If the output is not actually balanced and is just exposing a balanced connection, you might get away with it.
Zeos showed one of the bad cables in his Tor Balanced review and warned people not to use them.
That is the case for the sp200 but with stuff like the 887 or 789 the balanced outputs are better with more care into them. But the sp200 has similar specs on both outputs
