🔷 Geshelli Erish

Well, tldr, yes.

I think the elex and the clear are in two different ballparks. If the elex is anywhere close to the elegia, and my impressions of the differene between the elegia and the clears are accurate, then the elex is significanty inferior to the clears. If that is the case, the erish will be able to clearly display the differences imo.

At the same time, they are both focals. They sound similar. However, the erish is powerful enough, precise enough, and clean enough to at least help spotlight the differences between the cans.

I like running my clears on the erish. I like them more on the gilmore, but that is cause the gilmore is still better than the erish (not by too much, but by enough to be noticeable).

Of course the scale of the difference is exacerbated on higher end amps (and the highest end I have in my possession currently is a gilmore), but the erish should be good enough to do the clears some sort of justice.

At minimum the erish is a good amp for the clears. At best it really help to highlight the best parts of the cans. Would recommend.

I’ll have a Lake People RS-08 by Monday and a Denafrips Ares II on my desk tomorrow, so I’ll let you guys know what happens when comparing the elegias and clears on those.

Would this amp pair well with the SMSL M300 or SU-8? I need USB and the Enog 2 pro doesn’t have it, but I can’t go much higher on price because international shipping and customs costs are horrible.

No idea. I would assume with the reported sound signature that them + erish could be fatiguing.

Would just recommend getting a coax adapter of some kind and going with the enog.

Any adapter you would recommend?

None that I’ve used. I only use stuff with optical/coax ports if at all possible. Other people would be more helpful with that question.

Is this something you are looking for?

if you need USB to S/PDIF, I strong recommend this adapter.
I have two of them. It works on mac, PC, iPad and iPhone. I can not tell the difference in sound between using this adapter and using USB.

I know the erish is new but has anyone used it with the edition xx? I’m getting one at the end of the week and will write up a review

I’m considering pairing this with the Beyerdynamic T1. I asked Geno how much power the Erish gives per channel to 600 ohm headphones and stated that I’d heard he often uses DT990’s for testing.

He said, “@600ohms it will be rated around .24 Watts @ 12volts. Yes – we used the DT990’s as the reference for the A2 and A2.5 designs. We used the Hifiman HE4xx (with balanced cable) a lot for the Erish design.”.

I’ve read that some people think the Erish’s power would go up with headphone impedance, but now we know that’s incorrect. The Erish puts out 1 Watt Per Channel @ 32ohms and 240 mW per channel @ 600 ohms. It still seems like enough power for the Beyer T1, though.

Used it with Hexv2. Was real fun.

No you don’t know that’s incorrect, it will be voltage limited at 600 Ohms, if we assume 12V is the voltage gain limit, and it can sustain the current it’s pushing at 32 Ohms, peak power would be somewhere around 68 ohms where it would push about 2 watts.
Power would drop off from their as impedance increased.

But you know what they say about assumptions.

I’m unfamiliar with the math you’re using, so I can’t argue or agree with you. I have done a little math before that shows a higher resistance headphone needs more voltage than a lower resistance one to have the same power. What functions / formulas are you using? Any wiki or video or something you could link to for me to learn more?

It’s straight forwards V=IR and Power=IV = I^2R or V^2/R
Amps are limited by the current they can deliver at lower impedances, And the voltage at higher impedances.
If you take the 32 ohm number it will give you a minimum current the amp can deliver (could be more since we don’t know the figure at 16 Ohms) so 1watt at 32 ohms is sqrt(1/32) ~= 0.177A.
At the high impedance range we already know the the maximum Voltage is 12V.
So maximum power (assuming the amp can deliver both at the same time) would be 12*0.177 = 2.12W.
That would be at 12/0.177 ~= 68 Ohms.

Will this cable work with the Enog2 pro? This text makes me think it won’t.

The bigger optical end will fit in the enog2…what is the other side going to?

The 3.5mm jack on my laptop which I believe should have a S/PDIF-Out as it asks me if I want Headphone, Speaker Out, or S/PDIF-Out when I plug anything into it. If for some reason it doesn’t work, I’ll just return it and use my topping d10 to convert Usb to S/PDIF and get a Toslink to Toslink cable.

I was just confused as to why it’s mentioning the cable can’t convert digital into analog and whether that meant anything to me with trying to use it on a dac.

if your laptop is able to send a digital signal out with the cable, im assuming that would work? someone with more experience could chime in though haha found this video:

I checked some reviews and found people using it for an external dac from their mac, so I’m going to go ahead and get it to try out.
