If you read back, i wrote that earlier. On the Amazon page it written that it includes all VAT, but after the order i got an email from Linsoul that i will be charged with VAT at my country’s customs, because this “all VAT included” is only for four country’s.
"GL2000 is shipped from China, other than GERMAN, ITALY, SPAIN AND New Zealand, the others EU countries need to take VAT into consideration, Please understand.
In this case, can you accept the VAT ?"

Because my parents live in Germany, i was lucky and canceled my original order, and made a new one with a German shipping address. The Linsoul contact person told me that she will link my units place in order to the new Amazon order i made. And i also got my shipment notification on the 27th january, although there’s still nothing more in the tracking other that, Hermes got the electronic shipment notification.

This is so strange. All I can think they mean by this is that they know of a way to get it into those countries without paying VAT, bypassing customs. It’s weird that they would advertise it like this.

Yeah, same situation here John. Also from the Netherlands. I am now debating between the Hifiman Ananda and the Elear/Clear. What made you choose for the Clear?

They do exactly that

1: They bypass somehow the customs to these four country’s (i don’t care about that)
2: This is not what’s on their Amazon page, because there are no country restrictions (that is really a problem for buyers outside of those country’s), they want you to agree of additional VAT charges in private communications, bypassing Amazon.

This second problem i think is going against Amazon policies, basically you can’t get the product for the given price. I’m thinking about reporting them to Amazon.

3rd option: They use a parcel service (UBI) that does a bulk import (like to a local warehouse) and takes care of handling the VATs/fees but operates only from China to those specific countries
(or operates only there at an acceptable fee)? The local distribution is then taken over by Hermes (in Germany).

I actually guess it is your No. 1 option but I wouldn’t rule out No. 3.

Actually, the Ananda is not in the same league. it is the Hifiman Arya that is always compared in reviews to the focal clear. It would appear to have better imaging and broader soundstage. I considered it, but it lacks the slam, impact and dynamics of the Focal Clear. Plus the fact that I find all planar magnetic headphones to be mid-range strong, a bit like listening to music in a tin can. As far as frequency range and resolving resolution (detail retrieval) they are both about equal. Hence my choice for the Focal Clear.

If that were the case then other EU countries wouldn’t be a problem since you don’t pay extra when bringing something from Germany to another EU country, so they could just ship it from the local warehouse to wherever.

That makes more sense then.

With just a few hours of listening, I am really enjoying them. Might also be the “initial excitement” of receiving a new pair of cans, or maybe because these are my first pair of planars, but there were some moments where I was just zoned out from my surroundings and just grooving with the music. I have to listen to my other headphones to see if they are top of the class with my small collection.

P.S. “Hence my choice” was of course decided after I cancelled the order for the Goldplanar GL2000. I was so very willing to give a planar headphone a real chance. I have listened to (for instance) the Hifiman Sundara, it was too much midrange for me. I listened to the LCD-X and found it too much midrange for me. The Goldplanar GL2000 would (on paper) appear to be the first planar that I could have loved and the review and sound demo by Zeos Pantera more or less confirmed that. So it’s a great pity that Linsoul Audio is playing a game with potential buyers and import duties, even making fraudulent value declarations, if I interpret earlier messages on this forum correctly.

Awesome, great to read. Thing is, I can get the Ananda for about €540 brand new. So less then half the price of an Arya or Focal Clear. Is the latter that much better?

Would love to hear them both or just the Clear. But hey: Covid-shit

You can audition them all first at “Ears Unlimited” in Delft. They will let you visit them after making an appointment.

At least in Germany, there was temporary VAT reduction for eg electronics bought on amazon.de. It lasted till end of December, maybe beginning of January even. Now it is back to normal.
Linsoul apparently has also fulfillment center in Germany.
So can be indeed some weird thing happening between Linsoul China, Germany, and Amazon as umbrella for such deals.
Desn`t hurt to check with Amazon about this situation

So how much exactly do these cost you guys in the EU to get hold of A: without import duties and tax and B: including duties and tax?

Here in the UK they retail for the equivalent of 615 Euros and sold by Linsoul Audio UK.

I can confirm that they are 3.5mm connections at the cups.

Yeah, do report them, I won’t hate you at all if I pay another huge VAT that folks from poor countries have to pay for every cool product ever. I know that’s how world works, but economy broken af bruh
I’ll stop complaining now, sorry
