🔶 GoldPlanar GL2000

The 6SE seems to not be available anymore. Adorama has them for $1700. I am especially curios how the GL2000 are for female vocals and whether they’re pushed back / slightly recessed like some of the reviews say.

They’re in and out of stock and require a special link for the $700 price

Lucky you! Should you not like them, I’d like to take them of you  Netherlands here.

Okey, sow very very early thoughts.
Writing this listening to the big boys GL2000.

Not technical, just my 2 cents switching between my Sundara’s and the GL2000.

  • disclaimer, drivers not yet run in!! (just got them)
  • only powered by my Hiby R5 (564 mW each channel @32 Ω balanced) volume at 50% before getting to loud. (My amp just gave up on me last week)
  • hybrid D pads
  • my personal opinion, some will totally disagree ofcourse

Lets start with they sound great! overall I enjoy them over the Sundara. But the difference between them is not as big as I thought… or hoped
In my opinion at this point not a €200/$240 difference. But maybe after they get run in I will change my mind.

Some songs I like better with the Sundara’s.
I think the Sundara is more evenly balanced low/mids/high where the GL2000 has some more bass (because big and deep size cups?) and some treble sparkling feeling like the mids are a bit behind. I feel like the Sundara’s are more accurate where the GL2000 is more fun to listen to. The layering and soundstage on the GL2000 is better tho.

I have a small(ish) head, and they dont clamp enough (feel loose on the head) where the Sundara’s have more clamp and feel lighter but that was to be expected comparing the size and weight. However with the Sundara’s I feel like the pads are not deep enough where the GL2000 do have lots of space inside the cups.

My unit also has a less thightened screw on the right earcup. But not as loose as Z had.
Maybe a future problem thingy to come.

Enough rambling for now!

Going back to listen music with a beer.

Which tubes are you rolling with on your HA-300?

honestly i enjoy the stock ones, they’re of the old variant which are suppose to be the better tubes. I currently have tung-sol 6sn7bs, Melz 6h8s 1578 year: 1963. I haven’t purchased any new 300b tubes.

Mine showed up today, wasn’t expecting them until Monday but not complaining at all. Early impressions are very good. Clear not shrill highs, very good bass response and the mids are full. Staging is spot on as is imaging. Very open spacious sound and mmmm just on point all around. Haven’t switched pads yet but the stock leathers are very plush and comfortable. The hybrids with mine are d shaped but look fine. Will try them later today.

When he mentioned the others, my eyes lit up. Heavy praise being compared to those headphones.

Try out some psvane acme 300b if you wanted to really enhance it’s control and spatial recreation, or perhaps some sophia royal electric 300b if you wanted to sweeten it up and give better tonality in the midrange, both real solid in the ha300. Also to fatten up the sound and warm it up a bit more, some eml 300b mesh are very nice

@Wazzupi
I want to say I saw a Sophia 300b pair on sale on Usaudiomart very recently. Otherwise, I am also keeping my eye on Psvane Acme 300b

Just got my GL2000’s today. Been listening to them for about 45 minutes so far. 47 hours and 15 minutes to go before I have a solid impression of them since they recommend about 48 hrs of burn in. Been mostly listening to Rock music. When I test them for gaming, I’ll mainly be focusing on soundstage and accuracy in surround sound situations, especially for verticality. They respond very well to EQ. I’m using a Soundblaster G6 as my DAC/AMP (yes, I know - sue me, it’s not exactly top tier audiophile equipment, BUT they performed admirably with my TH900’s). I’d like to compare apples to apples. Quality’s good and there’s no issue driving them.

I swapped out the stock pads about 40 minutes in for the hybrid pads and I agree with other posters here, the hybrids improve the sound on these. My only gripe is that they’re D shaped vs the stock, so it feels a bit tight around my ears (but I guess that’s the point, lol). The hybrids open things up a bit at a very slight cost to bass.

Yes. You will need a 4.4 to 3.5 mm adapter to use these headphones with your G6.

Just got mine as well. My hybrid pads are D shaped as well. I bought from Linsoul. Is this them cheaping out on pads to ship quicker or do you guys think this was a conscious decision upon criticism or something of the sort?

That’s pretty messed up that I am seeing they changed the pads without any reasoning just some sort of silent change to a pad that could very well be cheaper and not sound as good… Honestly, I am a bit hesitant on this now… if anyone has some info they can find on this or maybe reach out to Linsoul for some clarification that would be nice… Not sure why they would suddenly change out the pads.

Have we confirmed if the D shaped pads are those ordered directly from Linsoul?

Just got the notification for the delivery. I’ll have a listen when I get home from work. Can’t wait to be honest.

Jealous of everyone here…

My GL2000s were supposed to arrive Monday, but arrived ahead of schedule. Attempted delivery by DHL during the 45 minutes I left my house today. Also, I expected these to show up late February, so I gave my amp to my buddy and bought the Topping A90 and D90 stack. Apos shipping was delayed and hasnt even shipped yet. Somehow I can get headphones from China in 3 days, but it has been 2 weeks for shipping from Texas to Colorado.

Even though I’ll get these tomorrow, I have no way to break them in.

First world problems indeed, but I am happy to see everyone’s impressions.

Mine came in today as well but they have a heavy chemical smell, and only one of my hybrid pads is a D pad, the other one came in oval.

I’m also going from the Sundara to the GL2000 and I agree with everything here at this point (less than 24 hours with GL2000, so this could definitely change). I especially agree that while they’re very comfortable, they’re borderline too loose without enough clamp force.

My biggest complaint (quality-wise) at this point is the hybrid D-shaped pads. The leather pads are memory foam and feel great, but the foam in the hybrid pads definitely isn’t memory foam and feels cheap. The hybrid pads don’t conform as well as the leather pads and I think that’s contributing somewhat to the feeling that they aren’t fitting as well as they could. That and the material that actually touches your skin isn’t velvet/suede like many hybrid pads, but more of a thin silk-ish material that doesn’t really add any friction to keep things in place.

Same here with the smell. It was pretty bad at first, even while wearing them. I’ve had them for about 12 hours now out of their box and the smell from the pads is gone. The box is still pretty bad. I think I’m going to take all the foam out of it and let it sit open for a day or so to see if that helps.

So mine needed to vent the chemical smell, and its super weird that you got two different hybrid pads. Im listing to them right now and they have me emotional… lol. Im still on stock pads after a couple days. I got the D-pads, and they are not as plush as the stock pads and seem to have non memory foam. But I have not tried them yet. @ZeosPantera, can you tell your friends at Dekoni to get on these. lol
